Just got this 1996 Fender P-Bass (USA) a few days ago. It's in mint condition (barely played, it seems) and has this rare "Sonic Blue" finish with unique dark pearl pickguard. Verified with Fender prior to purchase that it's the original finish -- since I haven't seen any P-Basses in that color in recent years -- and that it was made in Nov. 1996 in Corona, CA. Threw some DR 0.45 High Beams on it and his thing plays and sound s-w-e-e-t! Picked up a little Acoustic B20 practice amp the next day and just can't get enough of this new rig!

It started out as this a few days ago -
It was a literally bunch of junk.
A few details about the bass -
It features :
....a tailpiece made from a bit of angle aluminum, a hinge, and some steel wire
....a bridge made from 2 acorn nuts and a threaded rod
... a control plate made from a plate that joins 2x4's in construction sites
...a pickup ring made from a light switch plate
...a shower drain strainer for the sound hole
.... strap buttons made from license plate screws and washers

The sound clip was played with fingers....direct into a Line 6 Toneport ... GK modeled head, 4x10 cab. EQ'd lightly, but near "flat". Pretty simple.

)Here is my '83 MIJ Squier Precision Bass. This has been my main bass for the last few years, and I love it. I removed the stock pickup and installed a Seymour Duncan Antiquity II.
This is my newest acquisition: a MIM Fender 60's reissue Jazz Bass. This one just plays effortlessly, and sounds incredible as-is with the stock pickups.
Between these two instruments, I want for nothing more. I've played tons of vintage Fenders, and these sound and feel every bit as good as any of the ones I've tried.

I recognize that surf green frankenjazz from an older 'spraycan finishes' thread -- and next to that Jag, it looks every bit as quality. Nice work.
I even hit you up for the color back then - and now Krylon doesn't make it anymore. Too bad - your bass looks great.
