Most of the Fender 5 strings use a J-style pickup. It wasn't until the last couple years that Fender started putting split coils in their 5 string USA P's. The new 5 string Squiers still have J-style pickups.

I'm showing my new Godin Shifter bass, just because I think it's awesome!

The only other 3 pu bass I've seen was being played by John Lodge! But that one looked sorta j.

Always wondered what bass he was playing??

I used to own that same Artcore. Same color and everything. I loved it! I'm still trying to figure out why I sold it.

The previous owner musta played the dickens out of it cause the strings and neck were coated with finger grime from one end of the neck to the other. The flatwounds were gone(replaced with short scale Roto lights, I think) and the tuning machines had all been worked loose and both strap pins were falling out!

All that and the finish was nearly perfect!

A "Burns" perhaps? He also played an "Alembic" in the seventies.

Quick update, modified my MiM Precision this week. Collection is now as follows...

First post. Just recently joined this forum when i was searching information on adjusting the neck on my Rickenbacker. Here is my collection.

Bought the Rickenbacker in the summer of 1986 for $780 new.
Bought the Fender Jazz in the fall of 1997 for $700 new.
Bought the Fender Precision Lyte in the winter of 1995 for $469 new. The paint just cracked one day when i opened the case up. Had not a clue why as all my other bass where fine. But i love this bass's neck.

All the basses are stock except for the strap locks. Just bought the Hipshot bridge for the Rick. Still debating on putting it on since i finally learned how to adjusted the neck, the strings are just about laying on the frets with no buzz.

Oh, Yes. Almost forgot! Bought this one in 1998 $3000 new. I keep this one in my livingroom.

That Geddy is sweet The other basses are awesome too. You probably won't have any trouble selling that HS bridge if you decide to keep your stock Ric bridge

Yes, but how does it sound? I would think with all those pickups you'd have a huge variety of tonal options.
