My basses....

Crikey, whát a collection:eek: Specs on that white Jazz? Can't really figure out what it's supposed to be... :)

That's a Squier CV Jazz that I went ahead and stripped off the laquer on the back of the neck and then went a little farther when I decided I wanted a matching headstock. Then I decided that since the bass is a Fender product, I slapped on the Fender Jazz Bass decals (70's style). Sorry purists but I have no plans to sell it. The bass is wired for true stereo and mono as well, Rickebacker style. I dumped the tone pot, had the mono jack put in it's place and put the stereo out where the original mono out was. Throw in a mint green pickguard and it rocks.
My Geddy Lee Jazz is wired exactly the same way. I run a stereo rig.

The pickups are still original?

Yes, they are the original ones that came with the Squier. Not the best but they will do...for now.
I really dont know what pickups would work best for that bass and the problem with installing pickups and then not liking the sound from them is that you cannot return them. I dont need to be blowing all kinds of cash to find the right ones, so I stick with the ones in that bass.

I used to have one of those, and I've noticed it works particularly well with Fender CS60's pickups :)

If those are HOT like the ones that came with my 1998 Geddy Lee Jazz Bass, then they would be great, however if they are all warm and mellow, no sale. I did try some Fender "Original" Jazz Bass pickups in it for a short while and they were dull and lifeless and re installed the original Squier ones. Now I have (basically) a new set of pickups I dont need.:crying:

They have quite some output, but won't be as hot as your Geddy pickups. They're voiced more like the pickups in the early sixties basses, so a bit warmer and some more power in the low mids.

I'd like a set of the older Geddy Lee pickups that have the flat top pole pieces, not the beveled ones that I see on a lot of the newer ones. I was told, by Fender, that they are the Fender "Original Jazz Bass Pickups" and that might be what they are installing nowdays but isn't what they installed in them back in 1998. If I could try out pickups to find the ones I like without having to have a pile of non-returnable pickups, then I'm sure I'd find what I really want. But, no, I cant do that. That is a great way for stores to make money. I install them, try them out, dont like the tone and then they are non-returnable. I call BS on that policy.

Hooly **** man, what a collection! I'd be, like, forever happy if I had just one of those! And where the hell did you found that 4080 Rick. I thought those things only exist in fairy tales. :D Cheers man!

It took 31 years for me to assemble that collection!
I bought the 4080/12 new in Oct. 1984 for...........$1840.00.
Sure, it was a lot then but it's pretty rare. Only three exist just like it.
