Had to use the wide angle lens on my iPhone so not the best shot ever, but still. Finally have all my basses at home again.

My first Carvin and I can't be more happy, sound amazing and super comfortable, super B quality!!
I absolutely love it. It's light, well built, plays like butter and sounds amazing, especially after I installed Aguilar 70's pickups. I use it a lot, especially on cover band gigs. The B-string is killer too. Really, really good value for money. And I'm a Jazz Bass nerd (can you tell?) but I'm honestly really surprised by how good this bass it. I got it to write a review about for the Dutch bass magazine De Bassist and kept it (and paid for it of course).

Nice! I've been thinking about picking one up for a while now, just to have another 5-string in the stable. How did the original pickups and preamp sound?
The original preamp is still in the bass. It sounded a little bit less bassy and pretty mid-focused which is great and works really well, but the Aguilar pickups add just that little bit extra low end.
Ended up switching out the pickguard with a 'vintage white' one from Amazon. Fit well, and I think I love it. Also threw some DR sunbeams on and it plays great! Squier was never really on my radar, but now I'm playing this thing every single day.
I love the Yamaha. Build quality is better than the American Fender. Fretwork is awesome. Tone is that of a vintage P, roll in the J if you want to make it a bit modern. Definitely one of my all time favorite basses.
Does it have potential to sound entirely like a J bass? Or the the "P" linger with both pups 50/50?

Who made this one? Actually, even though I know what most of them are - it would be nice for everyone here to know (in order) which bass is what. A very nice collection - I especially am intrigued about the 8-string.

Things keep changing. I said I was happy with just the 2 G&Ls a few months ago. Then I needed a 5 again.

You can't get the full J sound with it. It's a nice mix of the two, its own tone when you blend both pickups.
It happens. About 8 years ago I thought I was done with 5's now I'm playing this one again.
Very nice.
If you ever consider selling your soulmate, pls pm me.
