I've always felt that avatars combining both keys really translated who I am. I started playing guitar almost 40 years ago and still do, before completely and MADLY falling in love with bass in 2007.
Glad you like the T-Bird, I've always loved them, but only recently did I purchase this one, while waiting for the Vintage Sunburst models to become available again up here in May or June. My original plan was to trade in the white one for a VS, but since changing the pickguard, not so sure anymore. She's my main girl these days, as totally fits with what I'm playing at this time.
I looked at your collection quite a few times this morning and one day and it made me drool with envy drool.
And that baby girl just adds more to beauty of it all.

We all have our prejudices, and the unbreakable...it feels to me...link between the T-Bird and death and speed and gloom metal leads me to lean away from the Thunderbird, in general. It LOOKS heavy...in both the physical and the musical sense of 'heavy'...and I'm not a heavy music fan. Don't get me wrong, I love to rock n roll, but the metal music scene just has never turned my head at all. Your T-Bird, on the other hand, is so beautiful that it cuts through all of that baggage, for me. The brightness of the white and the classic vibe of the simple, flat black on white is a dream. So there...now that I've shot myself in the TB foot, I've gotta ask about your reference to "what I'm playing at this time". ME?... I haven't had a paying gig in about 6 years...and that's just fine with me. I already have a job! Whenever I want to I can play along with the finest musicians...any genre, any era, at just about any volume I choose...out in the rec room. I jam constantly, but refuse to be sucked back into 'band mode'. I'm having too much fun with my family,(Our daughter and her family, starring the little one in the picture of The Flock, live in Australia), and my job, (I am 5 weeks away from retirement!), and the freedom to travel and take in a show or a festival whenever I / we want to. Life is so freakin' good! (DON'T SELL THE THUNDERBIRD!!!!!)
Ok, I did backpedal in a way but a build shouldn't count like a purchase...thats how I rationalize it at least.I got a few new ones and ditched one and now that it's sort of officially summer, it's safe for me to post as every penny I have for the next 3-4 months will go to my mountain biking addiction and not my bass addiction. I SHOULD not be buying any basses for a while, but I have been known to backpedal so don't hold me to it.

You give me the Blues! That is breathtaking! (There's a cool thread started by a cool guy, dedicated to 'blues'...blue bass guitars! You'll make 'em weak in the knees!) PLUS...I keep bumping into cool, sweet Canadian bassists out here. Be sure to check in with the 'Canadian Bass Players Club'. I, myself am a member...but only because I used to live in Northern New York, on the other side of the St. Lawrence, and the radio station I worked at at the time played softball against our friends from Kingston, Ontario radio. Plus, I have a really good rap about discovering National League baseball by way of the CBC.

And what a cute kiddo! Is that the same girl, just a little older in the second pic?
...and just this week, the arrival of my new / old 1970 Univox EB-1...the same make, the same model, with lots of zeros in the serial #... as the Univox EB-1 I played between 1971 and 1974! I've been fishing on Ebay for 5 years...saw a couple that tempted me, but never pulled the trigger. I'm so glad I waited! Now we have to set up the whole "Flock" shot again...and that kid? She's the most interesting person I know!

The MIM comes from sometime around 2000...so said the guy on Ebay who sold it to me. I could probably spend some time on it and nail it down, but I've very busy these daze...reading to them, playing with them, teaching them to fill bird feeders, and how to watch baseball...etc, etc, etc! Life Is So Freakin' Good! (OH OH! Now ya got me started!!!) The lil one, posed with the Flock, is Georgia. She lives in Sydney, OZ, so (of COURSE) her name is Georgia! The picture was taken last Thanksgiving, so she's bigger and braver and smarter (and even moe beautiful) now...
The lil one playing the Univox is the oldest of our 3 grand daughters. She is Cora Jane. She will be 4 in about a week. Cora Jane and her lil sister, Elsa Lynn, live right here in our little home town...so as to balance out the fact that the middle baby lives all the way around the world...I assume.

Thanks for the response. I LOVE the names Georgia, Cora Jane and Elsa Lynn, sincerely. My wife and I sort of went that way with our daughters' names...somewhat old fashioned but CLASSIC.
Also, I love Georgia itself. Give my regards to that great state. I have traveled very widely in my days, but parts of Georgia are as beautiful as any place I have ever seen.
Man, must be hard to have family so far away. But you get to visit them in Australia sometimes, right? Bonus!
Finally--CONGRATULATIONS on your impending retirement! I am sincerely so happy for you. Envious too...I hope I get there someday.
I truly hope you enjoy and live every moment. You've worked hard--you deserve it!
My bride and I have visited OZ 4 times in the last 10 years. St. Patrick's Day just gone by was the 10th anniv. of us putting our daughter and her (then) boyfriend on the plane to Sydney! They will be home in Georgia for Georgia's 2nd b'day in July...then, my bride and I will go there for Dec. and Jan. coming up! It ain't cheap, but it's well worth it! I know I won't be able to go 2 months without playing, but taking a bass with me is out of the question...too much money, second bag charges, etc...We'll be there long enough to crawl the pubs often enough to get to know someone who might let me sit in, or someone who likes to jam...but the focus will certainly be on family. I'm afraid of coming back with no calluses!
