Finally got around to getting my 3 together for a group pic
love the Rick Noir. It is a shame, that Rickenbacker did not offer this special run for the european market. If you want one, you need to pay a multiple price via ebay or reverb. SAD.
It’s similar here too. There are special Rics for Japan market the are over $4000 Usd if I try to purchase one. I guess RIC is at least trying to spread them around.

I've only just started learning to play but had a fool around with it today and even through my knackered practice amp it sounded pretty good - lots of variety too. When I'm a bit better I'll look at getting some nylon strings and see what it can do. I really bought it for accoustic and trad irish / scots music (although tbh a bodhran might be a better bet for that - those guys are doing amazing things with them).
I just sold one last week, so I’m down to four altogether...

The #3 (Fretless)
A new black Hipshot Kickass bridge is on its way for the fretless...I plan on eventually getting a Warmoth fretless neck (roasted maple/pau ferro) for it. The Squier Affinity neck is a bit soft and doesn’t resonate well. It originally came with #4 (below) and there was a huge difference in tone/volume once I installed the VM neck on it.
The #4 is sort of a “beater” and stays in my work-truck 24/7
In a perfect world, I’d get another pair of G&L’s; JB5 fretted and fretless...the rest can go pound sand...
EDIT: or just an L2500 fretless...to keep it simple and less expensive...which negates the whole “perfect world” concept in the end...

2013 American vintage hot rod p bass I got last year in Korea.
I just love this 63 p pickup for how punchy it is.. probably the best sounding p for a good compromise between modern & vintage tone.
Blending in the jazz pickup up to 90% with the p 100% really gives the extra bite!

Actually, I've played that particular squire in the store. It really isn't anything to sneeze at, especially for the price. Is it the sexiest $350 bass ever? Probably not to most, but it is better than a starter bass and has room to grow.

I have to say that those Squier VM’s, you really have to pick through a bunch to find a good one. The one I picked up from GC (January 2015) is flawless. I have played a handful of others that have finish and assembly flaws, like poor poly coverage on the neck/fretboard and off-center mounted bridges.Actually, I've played that particular squire in the store. Last week, Sweetwater had one or two that had glorious grain in the bodies (looked like Ash), but they’re out of stock now....sold Lickety-split.
