One of my favorite threads to view daily, I decided I should post my humble, and I do mean “humble” collection. Too lazy to group them, so I just walked around the room and took pics... no particular order.

MIM P ('05 maybe), Midnight Wine, bought used at the local GC for ~$300, the only 4-string I kept after going to 5ers, then rediscovered it just recently by tuning it BEAD... then Tort 'cause that's what I do.

Squier VM-P-5, $300 brand new before the price increase (then discontinuation), my lightest at 8lbs 7oz.

MIM Jazz V, my first 5er (in my avatar), $399 brand new but neck appeared to be warping... eventually (like many years later) ran out of truss rod, so I put a Squier neck on it... a wonderful neck superior to the original.

Off-brand ("Indio" from Monoprice) Jazz I got new on-sale for $89 (retail $160), now BEAD, and spray painted pickguard.

Sterling Ray-5, paid new $289, had a flaw I repaired, great bass.

Yamaha BB415 got used at the local GC, $325, probably the best-feeling bass for my hands.

Ibanez ATK305, bought new on line for a great price (can't remember) when being cleared out, my heaviest at 10lbs 12oz, wonderful bass. (ran out of wall hangers, more on order)

@51rhc - Finally got time to try this again. Hopefully this time it works.

Direct from bass to Soundcraft UI-24r. Recordings are pre-fader. No comp, no eq. Converted from . wav 24 bit to MP3 using Presonus Studio One.

For the interested, bass is a Nordstrand Cat strung BEAD using the bottom 4 of a LaBella 5 string set.

She's Not There - Key of E, both pickups parallel
Next four are a low F and Bb vamp
Both - first pickup selector switch in
Neck, second switch in
Bridge, third switch in
Series - all switches in

Last is an Open B to D vamp

Unfortunately, it is still not working. I do appreciate the effort though.

Dude, I wish I wasn't so stupid to waste all the money that I do on pricier gear. I kept my total rig price around 5-600 bucks for about 10 years. Now... We'll... Significantly more, thousands lost in the process and I still sound the same and don't play any better!

Not sure why but you have to download and then play. That works for me on the files in the other thread I linked to.

And to me "the worth" is what I am willing to pay, 'cause after that, I never sell what I love, so the ones in my hands instantly become priceless.

Dug out my '87 Gibson IV for a spin. Bought during COVID lockdown 9/20 it took a couple more years to get it out in the world. I always wanted one ever since I moved my TBird. Another stab at a P by Gibson that fell short, but it plays great and feels like a P, all mahogany and the first year TB+ pickups are favorites. A TBird in P garb.

IMO it's a hidden gem.

My friend's first bass was Gibson IV that looks an awful lot like that one. Way underrated back in the mid 90s, so he got an American made Gibson for like...Mexi Fender money.

Plus, midnight wine is one of the greatest colors ever produced. So ya got that going for ya. Nice collection.

Very cool - both Fender and Gibson experimented with non-recognizable 'brand familiar' formats over the years which left certain models on the popularity side-lines. I've always liked 22 fret basses and that one looks well designed overall. A well balanced (Fender-esque) body design with a T-bird sound and a 22 fret fb with good access to the upper frets is a good thing! It's not as iconic as a T-bird - but it probably delivers the goods!

This is my one and only. 2014 MIJ FGN neo classic P, alder body, nitro surf green refin, slab rosewood fb, 1977 Fender precision pickup, emerson wiring harness, thomastik flats. I’ll keep this forever.

Very cool - It's not as iconic as a T-bird - but it probably delivers the goods!

It definitely does - this was the first year for these pickups which went into all TBirds going forward. From round and solid to max 'Bird tones, it's very versatile. If you can find a nice one (mine's in exc condition) I highly recommend them. Gibson PBird! Love it!!!
