I have the Joan Rivers of Jazz Basses

Here she is back in 1997:

Got her second plastic surgery in Jan 2009 when I took off this black guard off of my old midnight wine Jazz:

Don't look into it's eyes! He he he! I hear ya...on the change...good to mix it up every decade or so:D

that is the scariest picture I have ever seen

I had the white pearl on it for over a decade and it was time for a change

Hello, I'll introduce myself, or at least my current basses. As you can see, I AM a bassist, not a photographer.

My current main tool, Amfisound Custom:

Another Amfisound Custom:

Does anyone know where I can get a Lynott-style mirror pickguard for that?

OLP SB-5:

I really like the neck on OLP and actually sent that to Amfisound to be copied for the customs!

Warwick Corvette Standard 5:

Warwick used to be my main bass before I got my first Amfisound.

I'll gladly answer any questions, especially concerning the Amfisound basses. The others are quite common, I'd think.

Warwick Dolphin Pro I. Boire body, 7-stripe wenge/zebrano neck. Active MEC. Built '91, bought it new in '95. Road worn by me :D. Glass clear sound. Unbelievable variations. Best bass for tapping I ever played, sound and play wise, although I'm really not a specialist in it. Only reason to give it away would be to exchange it for a 5 string with same specs. PM me if you're unhappy with your fiver ;). The lack of a B string is the only reason I don't play it as often as the other basses.

Marleaux Consat Custom 5. Mahogany body, myrtle top, Active Bartolinis. Bought new in '97. Strongest B string of all my basses. Warm and deep sound with crisp highs. Badass dirty when hit a bit harder which I love. Replaced the Dolphin as main bass for having a B string :) Both Marleauxs can be played very fast. They have an extremely low action :smug:

Marleaux Consat Custom 5. All maple, active Delanos. Bought new in 2005. Badass mid dominant, for all those jazzy bridge pickup sounds. They called it "The Killer" in the shop and you know why when you hear it for the first time. Great sound for soloes. Funny thing, it looks better from the rear :p

Sadowsky NYC Vintage 5. Swamp Ash, singles. Not the strongest b string it really matters what strings you put on. Best with Cleartone which are a bit sharp, followed by Sadowsky Blue Lable Nickels. Has that Jazz Bass sound which I can't get from the other basses. Awesome metallic slap sound. The only bass that I can play in my quite large reggae band 'cause it perfectly mixes itself, stays out of the way of the other instruments and shakes the earth with deeeeeep lows but well I guess you know :hyper:
My main bass on stage and for studio works at the moment although I love and play all of them.

Excuse the patchwork background. It was the blackest blacks I could find.

cheers, rob
