Best I can offer right now famous-wise is Lance Armstrong...shots from the Amgen Tour of Calif a couple of years ago (the third stage started here that year). I'll dig out the disc that those are on tomorrow.

I've been having a bit of a slump lately, but I'm trying to keep up with my 365 project. Part of that includes a self-portrait once a month. Here are two that I took, and for the project chose the B&W one....
I think this is a great example of the differences that an angle creates in a photo. The first is my fave in this series. The second the combination of upward angle and extremely tight cropping doesn't work well IMO and the picture has a stifled feel.

A few more I took. The portraits are from my brother's birthday thing yesterday. Mostly just family.
I have to admit - I love this image. It's real, it's beautiful, and it makes me want to know the person in it.
Taken the other day during a photo adventure with the girlie (who is also into photography).

Why is the 35mm 1.8 nikon so hard to find? I want to buy one but dont want to pay the extra $50 on ebay over what MSRP is. I realize its simple supply and demand, but why isnt nikon cranking more of these out?
Tried calling around smaller camera dealers in the city? Surely in a city as big as Chicago, there'll be at least one hidden away somewhere!

The portable power pack for my Alien Bees has me in the same position....hate it!

So at TB's suggestion I picked up Lightroom 3. I took a pic that I was never happy with and did some manipulation and was really impressed with the results. I don't have a polarizing filter so the reflection on this picture is horrendous. This is the original without any processing.
Here is the same photo with some quick manipulations. The "recovery" toned down on the reflection of the light so you can make out more detail.
Not completely satisfactory,...It's perhaps a little to heavy on the yellow side and that hair that is on the pedal under the "Octave" label is stuck in my craw.
I'll definitely be putting this piece of software to use.

I'm still finding it a little flat but I guess you can't make chicken soup out of chicken ****. I wonder how much shooting on 1600 ISO or under exposure is causing the graininess,...which in all honesty is not that off putting to me.

For this one I would have turned the camera vertically (portrait) instead of horizontally (landscape).
While I love this picture for the texture, lighting and coloring, it seems to add a lot of years to you JP.
The second shot while not as interesting seems more representative of you.

Yeah, it's the gritty look combined with hard light (that's just a gridded bare bulb). I think I'd have to do selective sharpening, which would change the feel of the pic....
