It's an old cheapy brand, M42 mount, but it comes with the adapter. I was planning on buying one of the M42 adapters anyway, and a metal one is ~£15 (the lens and adapter was only £20)

Really like those pictures, I too am afraid of photographing people in the street!

I really think the 1.8 makes a huge difference, no sure the 3.5 is enough if you end up in lowish light situations the 3.5 is going to let you down i think!

Regarding the "photographing people in the street" that was actually my first proper try!
I usually went out with my big 18 200 and it kinda freaked people out and freaked me out!
The 35mm is so small people dont really notice it til its to late!
On top of that, people actually dont care! You creating your own obstacles here! If you just go out, stop thinking about it and do it you will be surprised how easy it is!
Just look confident, do it, and smile if you make eye contact with them!

I am renting a wide-angle lens to take pics of our house which we're about to put on the market. First time using a wide-angle lens. I rented one that I'm actually interested in buying down the road - the Tokina 12-24 f4. So far I'm very pleased with this lens and compared to the Nikon 12-24 this seems like a steal at ~500 with great performance and sharpness. Here are some of the pics I took so far:

Not thrilled about having to move my TV and therefore unhook the surround sound but it shows more of the potential of the room as far as size goes:

Hey, everybody, I haven't posted anything is a while, but thought you might like this shot of one of my friends, Dolly.

If we want to get very critical, the green balloon is a distraction, but this was a grab shot taken at a child's birthday party, so I had to make the exposure before the moment was lost.

This was taken with my Pentax 70mm f 2.4 pancake lens.

F5.6 @ 1/60 second.

Taken near a window; flash mixed with daylight.

Went out again yesterday and thought i would give color a try!

Not really happy with it, i think the Black and white has something special about it!

Just a heads up when it comes to street photography.

Taking pictures of people's backs may seem interesting when you're taking the picture, but afterwards most of these kind of shots are pretty boring, lacking commitment, something like that.

I don't want to sound like a pita, it's just something I've learned in the last 2 years. But I still catch myself doing it sometimes.

I totally see what you mean, and i am trying to avoid the back shots, just kinda liked that one...

Ok, this one was fun. My daughter and I were *both* hired by a clothing designer here in Tokyo to promote her fall line. Just had a ball (and the kid said it was the second most fun modeling gig she's done)!

Hey guys, I'm loving everyone's pictures here.

This possibly has been asked before, but I'm getting a hard time searching for it.

I'm looking to get a camera to start taking pictures/ getting into photography.
what would you suggest as a good start point for a digital manual camera?
thanks for the advice.

One thing I will say. Even if you don't buy from a shop. Go in and try the cameras in your hands.

I was originally going to buy the 550D, but the camera was too small for my hands. I spent a bit mroe the 60D. Which is basically the same camera, just a nicer (and larger) body, nicer materials and a swivel screen. Think the FPS is slightly higher and maybe some other video modes, but it has the same sensor.

Can get some awesome quality pictures with that setup. Heck, a friend of mine has a 1000D, another has a 400D, both of which also produce awesome pictures! (with kit lenses)
