Burk, awesome pictures!

What ND filter are you using? I've been toying with some longer exposure water shots, but I just got a cheapy set of NDs off ebay (tho I expected the colour cast to be pretty bad)

When I run ND's I use the graduated Sing-rays, and I just hold them down in front the lens. But those shot were just with the ISO dialed down to -1.0. The D300 has a lot of exposure latitude, and it was dark outside. I prefer this kind of light to bright sunshine, I just don't like shooting with DSLR's in the rain.

I was considering buying a 60d but came to the conclusion that I don't need some features that it has (video and swivel screen) and the fact that the body feels "cheap" on my hands, Am I better off getting a 50d? If so, should I buy used or find a good deal on a new one, I just want the body.

I went with the 60D and can't complain. While it doesn't have the heft of a full mag alloy body, it's at least nicer than the xxxD series in both feel and size :ninja:

If you prefer the feel of the 50D, then go for it! While it is slightly older tech, you aren't going to have any real difference in IQ or useful settings, especially if you aren't going to use video.

Thanks for the reply, I'm definitely going with the 50d, are new ones still widely available?

When I bought the 60D, the 50Ds were still in shops, but I think they've been being filtered out.

Having a quick look online, they all seem to be out of stock.

You could look used. Or, for not much more, you could go for the 7D, which is more of a sucessor to the 50D than the 60D is.

(similar sensor to the 550D & 60D, but a pair of processors, higher FPS and it has the mag-alloy body, similar to that which the 50D had).
