Bought a new lens today, Tamron 70-300mm f4/5.6 DI LD Macro. Granted, it's a cheap one, the AF is slow and noisy and it gets quite soft towards the 300 end of things. But I love having the extra reach!

Was taking pictures at a 7s tournament today, not had a chance to load them onto the PC yet, but they look good on the camera . IS would have been nice, but sadly not too much of an issue.

Would still love to buy a Canon 70-200 f4 L, even tho my skills don't require that at all!

I'm currently going back and forth on saving up long term for a Nikon 70-200 VRI. $1500-$1600 used. I know I would love it but it would take me a long time of saving and buying no other camera gear.

My 55-200 VR performs pretty well for the money but nothing like Nikon's 70-200 2.8.

I own the Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR and the Nikon 70-300 VR. It's amazing how many times I grab the 70-300 over the 2.8. If I'm shooting handheld unless it's a light challenged situation the 70-300 is just as sharp (out to about 250) and used ones go for about $600. But in low light (concerts), just the focussing ease alone makes the 2.8 a great lens

I suspect if you hunt the camera forums like Nikonians and Fred Miranda you may find the 2.8 a bit cheaper. I've seen them as low as 1200 in good shape. I think mine was under $1300 with shipping but I bought right when the VR II came out and all the full frame guys were dumping their VR I's.

The VR1's have gone up in price a good bit recently. They're hard to find under 1500 and that would be a good price right now.

A guy I play rugby with has one, it's amazing how much more alive the colours seem, as well as being crisper and really fast focusing too!

(not to mention the classic off-white L series look seriously kicks ass!)

Nothing special or fancy at all, just the San Isabel Natn'l forest yesterday. Wish it had been clearer, but the wildfires down south caused a haze that covered everything.

And my favorite from the whole day. She was so tired by the time we reached the top of the ridge (12500ft +), that she laid down in this bush and fell asleep.

Any of you guys/gals use square/rectangular filters (ala Conklin P Filter, or similar).

I've been able to find the size of the filter faces, but not the depth.

Minor freakout yesterday when I was taking some pics of my basses; some sweat got into my 7D and it started acting wonky. I did a little googling and found out that the 7D is not completely sealed (even with L lenses), it's resistant. If the damage was permanent it could've cost me quite a bit but after letting it dry (took the memory card and battery out) for a few hours it seems like everything is ok.

Just got myself a new lens!

Got a Nikon 35mm 1.8 DX, great lens that i would recommend to anyone who has a DX and wants a good low light lens or a good lens to walk around town!

Went out and here are my favorite pics from this afternoon! I really like the result and i have to say i really like the focal length and the fact that it is fixed!
I used to miss a lot of shots because i spent to much time faffing around with my zoom!
With a prime you either have the shot or you dont!
But if you do you have it a lot faster!
Also i really think it freaks people out a lot less! Its a lot easier to get shots of people without them noticing or without them freaking out and running away!

All shot with a Nikon D7000 and the 35mm!

None of those shots are posed! I just shoot, smile and go!
It used to scare me to do that but i realized today that if you just smile/nod/thumb up at people they dont actually care! I just had one guy telling me he didnt want to be photographed! Just nod and move on!

Shooting my first gig tomorrow to! Cant wait!

I'm planning on picking up the canon 50mm f1.8 in the near future. Picked up a 35mm f3.5 prime for peanuts on the net, just waiting for it to come.

It's an old cheapy brand, M42 mount, but it comes with the adapter. I was planning on buying one of the M42 adapters anyway, and a metal one is ~£15 (the lens and adapter was only £20)

Really like those pictures, I too am afraid of photographing people in the street!
