The Official Warwick Club (Part 6)

quick question for you Warwick veterans ..

I've got a Wal coming that will be equipped with the Schaller tuning machines with ears similar shape to what comes on the Warwicks.. Do you know if those ears are interchangeable between Warwicks tuners and Schaller? Are they made in the same factory?

Excuse my country boy question: the '89 Ltd has a 2- or 3-band preamp ?? The pups are Barts - the preamp is a BEC ?? There's one selling in Germany asking 2,2

Bartolini pickup with a MEC preamp. The preamp is 2-band with some sort of frequency control on the last pot (I've just emailed HP to get some more info on this).
I paid about 1300 euro a year ago (limited market for vintage Warwicks here in Norway.)

If you want a bass that is brutally up front, cuts through every single mix and annoys all guitarists, go for it! :)

Just collected my Warwick Streamer Std Fretless 1999. Man, beyond my expectations! It sings, it growls, it buzzes… WHOOWEEEE!

How hard is it to replace ALL the hardware on a 2000's Streamer? The one in the mail has the original hardware and appears quite tarnished. Thinking about new bridge, knobs, tuners, and possibly a Just-A-Nut III. Is the only place to buy from the overseas websites?

Do you want a brass bridge or standard alloy? That will be the real deciding factor of how much you’ll end up paying

The early ones up to the '89 have Schaller tuners,

Aged / roadworn .... P-bass lovers would never think about swapping to new hardware

This is true, and they’ll pay ridiculous sums for Custom Shop heavy relic’d examples, then treat them with utmost care so as not to add their own character marks. :roflmao:

I replaced all of the hardware and electronics on my ‘86 Buzzard a year or so ago because I like it to be minty. I still have the original parts in case someone deems it more valuable someday after I’ve expired.

The wood has to shine !! Maybe some of the earlier owners were shining the hardware too much I sometimes feel guilty cleaning the headstock
