The Orville - Season 2

SPOILER ALERT...

They jumped right into continuing the story from where it left off at the end of the last episode, where Kelly changes the future for everyone by deciding to avoid pursuing a relationship with Ed after she returns to her own past when they first met.

In the new future, Ed never gets to be captain of the Orville and Isaac's robot people succeed in exterminating most sentient life forms in the galaxy.

The majority of the plot consists of the Orville crew reuniting as refugees under the leadership of Kelly, who is the only one who knows that in the true timeline, Ed and his crew in the Orville defeat the robots.

They come up with a plan to restore the timeline, which takes them in their scavenged spaceship to various worlds and exotic places (like hiding inside a black hole and flying thorough a crowded asteroid field that closely resembles the Millenium Falcon scene in Star Wars: Empire).

In the end, all goes according to plan and the timeline is restored, with no one having any recollection of the horrific alternative reality they escaped from.

Lots of cool special effects and fast paced action with numerous battle scenes.

This was hardly a mind bender story, but really just a well done Orville take on the classic "Don't do anything to alter the future" plot.



So what do you think? Like this episode or not? And what about the season in its entirety?

We just got the last two episodes here and I think they must have punched in the 3 to last some time back but I missed it. Over all much better for less of the crass jokes.

I did not understand what purpose deepdiving the central robot computer served in sending the doctor back to fix Kelly. I know the engineer wanted to restore Issac but they didn't need him for sending Claire back. All they had to do was fire up the time machine once they surfaced.

They didn't have the time machine because in this timeline Isaac wasn't around to share the design. So they had to go hunt for his contiousness in the central computer in order to retrieve the design and build the machine etc...

Explain this to me like I'm technologically illiterate - because I am. I don't have a service of my own or even my own TV. My housemate has DISH and if I want to watch shows I have to go to his section of the house where his TV room is.

So if I want to see The Orville S3, how can I do that?

If you have a regular old TV (ok, sounds like you don’t), and a Fox station in your area, you should be able to get it over-the-air for free. Think rabbit ears.

Also I believe Fox, like most everyone else, makes new episodes available for streaming for free for a week or two after their original air date. Someone will correct me if I’m wrong.

I think we can safely assume you have an internet connection. What difference does it make if you watch something over the air, or stream it, as long as you don't have to pay extra? Or is there no free streaming of American shows in NZ?

Foks, you can't have both ways - refuse to pay for TV, and then complain that you can't get every show. These folks work to make money, just as you do.

I understand that and I already said I was willing to just not watch the show when it was pay per view. But then someone said there was an option of OTA broadcast, which I assume would include commercials, which I'm willing to sit through.
