I've had this Pedulla Rapture J2-5 since the late 90s when they tried to expand out to other retailers like Guitar Center. I got a crazy deal on it because I worked there and someone had put devalument dollars into it to unload the inventory.
I love the look and feel of the bass, but I've always felt that the pickups were lacking. After years (decades really) of fence sitting, I've decided to upgrade either the pickups or the preamp.
When I popped open the cavity, this is what I found. There isn't a gain control on the preamp. The white wire is wound around its self and the blue\gray wires are soldered to each other. What the heck? That isn't normal at all for Bartolini preamps, but I don't know if this was something they were doing at the time. Has anyone else seen or experienced this? Should I email Pedulla and see what they say?
