I’ve never cared for the gold hardware on my Thunderbass and have always wanted to swap everything out to black.

I recently changed out the tuners on another bass I have, so I’m half-way there with a set of black tuners. All I need now is a bridge.

So - anyone know where I can get a black drop-in replacement bridge for my 19mm Thunderbass? I haven’t had much luck searching on line. I don’t care what brand it is as long as it has the same physical dimensions as the stock bridge.

Regards,
Wayne A. Pflughaupt

I've used Hipshot A style bridges, but I don't recall if I had to do any drilling for new holes or if the hipshot lined up exactly with the original bridge.
Hope that helps (maybe only a little)

Hipshot A style bridge
Thanks, I’ll check into it! My only concern is if it's smaller dimensions and thus you can see where the old one was.

@WayneP The first pic is with the bridge replacement and you can't see any 'footprint' of the original bridge. The second pic is after I did a refinish

Man, I love this bass. Its mint, its loud and so thick sounding. The last few years I have developed shoulder and hand issues..so I have started dabbling with shorter fan fret basses. (Dingwall) This beauty isnt getting any play time.
Did Pedulla ever make 33" scale MVPs? I looked online and didnt see any info regarding it...wondering if you great people know if they made any(?) Thanks:)

I've never heard of 33" scale Pedulla, and I don't believe Michael really deviated from lineup

^^^This.

While Pedulla instruments were both “boutique” and (sometimes) “bespoke” they were never really “custom”. Mike had a pretty straightforward recipe for how he was going to build a bass, and rarely deviated from those specs. A few options for wood species or grade, and electronics package, but the basic bass was always *his* vision, not the customer’s.

After (far) too many years away I’m happy to be back in the club and dust off my membership number 167! I picked up this 2001 Thunderbass 5 recently! It belonged to good friend of mine who sadly passed away a few years ago so I couldn’t pass up the chance to get it! He had swapped out the original pre for an East Uni-Pre but I got the original electronics (I think it’s all there bar a volume knob) so I might put that back in!

I had a couple of his basses over the years. My MVP 4 was by far my best sounding bass ever (PJ Bartolinis) and a second MVP 4 with PJ EMGs was one of the worst. If that great sounding one had been a couple pounds lighter I'd still have it. A tobias prototype that was outsourced to Mike Pedula ewas my third. That had the most comfortable neck profile I've ever owned. And sounded great (JJ barts).

I had the opportunity to meet him at his workshop to do some fret work for me on a Brubaker I had. He was a super nice guy. Quaint little woodshop. Very industrial, not at all homey. Did lovely work.

If I could get a 30" MVP4 with bart PJs and that Tobias neck carve with an ebony board with no inlays, and a blueburst finish on 5A quilted maple, I'd do it. But that's not an option, and I'll probably never own another Pedulla. :(

I emailed Pedulla about 10 years ago and asked would he make a 33” scale Thunderbass and Christine replied “There are technical reasons why Michael won't make a 33" scale Thunderbass, sorry.” She didn’t specify what they were tho!

If anyone has a black 19mm 5 string bridge for sale let me know! I’d like to swap out the gold hardware to black!
I’m in the same boat. I’ve searched far and wide for “stock” black 19mm replacement, and it appears they don’t exist in the wild. See my recent post and the ones following.
