The Pedulla Club!

I wonder if the current ABM bridge might have the same footprint and screw pattern?

Or maybe the Schaller roller bridge that came on them before the ABMs.

Comparing ABM’s specs to my digital calipers on my Thunderbass, the former is ~10mm shorter (front to back) than the Thunderbass (49 vs. 59). That makes it hard to determine the bolt info.

The Hiphot @Envincibal is using looks like a good contender for 19mm. I would have got it already, except removing the gold one showed some slight discolloration with the wood that was under the bridge (a bit lighter). I need to check with my luthier to see if something can be done about it.

Any chance someone could post a photo of a Thunderbass control cavity with the 4 knob layout please? I want to put the original Pedulla pre that was in my bass (it was swapped out b4 I got it but I think I have all the parts) back in and want to try keep the original layout! Thanks! 🙌🏼
Here ya go. Curious stuff, it feels like all the modules are glued down.

Great. Thanks Wayne! 👍🏻 Ya I think they’re glued in with something alright. I remember I swapped out the old 3 knob pre to a newer 4 knob ones on my first Thunderbass but that was about 13 years ago but I remember them being hard enough to remove!

I love the ABM bridges that Rickenbacker put on their 4004 models in the earlier runs. (1995-2007?)
They look identical to the ones Pedulla used.
The new ABM bridges look incredible, and I love that they’re offered in aluminum as well as brass versions.

Has anyone ever seen a 5-knob Buzz? I usually see 4 knobs and 2 switches, and I was wondering if the knob was added or if they came like this.

Based on the serial #, it's from 1985. The preamp layout in the early basses was different. I think he made the transition in ~1987. The lower knob closest to the neck was originally a switch, so it was modified or upgraded at some point. See pic:

So it looks as though I do have the Pedulla EZ-Q as Alistair suggested, but the pot is an AB 50k, and I have ultra highs, 1/4 of a turn, pretty quacky unusable mids, and the rest of it is unusable lows. It's acting like an audio taper, and I was wondering if you knew what 50K pot to use. B 50k taper? Any help would be appreciated!

I had an EZ-Q on my first Pentabuzz. I actually liked it a lot — at least back then. That was probably 30 years ago though. I wonder if I’d still like it.

I have not been playing my hexabuzz JJ much as the preamp and I have never gotten along in the 9 years I've had the bass. The bridge pu had an annoying low frequency percussive attack and the neck pu was too boomy/muddy. It made no difference what strings i used, how i trimmed the preamp or set eq on bass and amp. i tried so many different amps compressors and processing including no efx/processing at all and I could never get away from the sounds that annoyed me.

I finally decided to take the preamp out last night and i wired the pickups direct to a stereo jack. Both pickups sound fantastic! no matter what combination of amp or compressor or di, it all sounds amazing! full tone and clarity with a very musical brightening of tone ascending the scale. It was really amazing last nigt to run each pickup into its own dedicated amp and fully shape the tone for each pickup. I have the bridge wired to tip and with a mono cable direct to just one amp sounds great too!

I am super excited about the possibility that this bass might still get to be the number one I always expected it to be.
Not sure what I'll replace the preamp with. Passive wiring VBTT or a Lusithand filter preamp are both things I want to try. Sad I didn't get an Audere preamp for this bass before he closed up shop. I really like those in my fender jazz basses.

For now I am super happy to get the tone killer out of what should be my favorite bass.

Hi all! I have the Pedulla Thunderbass ET-6 bass with Zebrawood top as seen in my avatar. I have a question about the headstock. In the headstock of my bass there is a script/signature which to my eyes read as "Ersales". I have not seen such script / signature in the photos on the internet on other Pedullas. I have also asked A.I. and once it said it is "Eksiles" and stands for Excellence which was on some high end basses from 90's, and once it said, it is the signature of Michael Pedulla which is a bit odd. I attach the photo of the headstock. Do you guys have such headstock on your Pedullas or do you have any information about this? Thanks.
