The perfect OD pedal ?

Thank you everyone for the suggestion and thoughts, I am currently investigating WH Pork Loin, Xotic BB and SS/BS Mini. The Aftershock seems to do maybe too much for what I need haha...but I will have a look.

Concerning Darkglass, I already tried the VMT (two years ago) and wasn't completly satisfied with it. Too colored. And adding a blend to a dirt never satisfies me for some reason.

They are really hot ! I've been thinking latetly that they my be (part of) the problem in the equation...

EDIT : Timmy, Elements and Mr Black OD sound like nice option too....I wish I could test this 7 pedals to clear my mind...

I would certainly experiment with buffer busters. Really did some wonders to my setup when I had pretty hot EMG active system on my bass. I've got a Ball Buster loop pedal, and that worked nicely. It even lets you bypass the dirt pedals you got in that loop. Dirt is in my humble experience one of the most source depended effects. It really is like a different pedal depending on how much and what kind of signal you give it.

As most of us are attesting to, the perfect overdrive is a very personal thing. I've tried a lot of the ones mentioned and have also settled on boutiquey pedal... the Dunwich 'Ol Dirty Bass.
It's a modified OCD circuit with an awesome EQ.

I also use one of these and it blows anything else I've tried away...unfortunately it's currently sold out, and who knows when more will be available -- Dunwich is pretty notorious for small-batch runs that don't happen frequently and sell out quickly. A more obtainable similar pedal according to the chatter would be the Big Game Bedlam (version 3 should be released quite soon)...if an OCD is what you're into, I'd probably pounce on that.
