The Poor Man's Big Mac

thing is, will your local McRegret establishment even go for that???? I would think some free thinking individual under their employ would be hip to yer game.
I was thinking the same thing. I know my neice orders her hamburgers with no onions and mustard which they have no problem doing but adding stuff I cant see happening.
Totally agree, gentlemen.
I was thinking this was just (special?) sauce for the "fail" goose (assuming we were using Joey3313's theory of the substitutions).
But I didn't add it to the previous conversation as it seemed a few already had enough to "chew" on. :smug:

Yea, they do add the stuff, my friend who works at McD's gave me this infomation and I have used it successfully many times.
Something tells me this is going to vary by location and manager.

I've been to McDonalds not just all over the country, but all over the world. A Big Mac is a Big Mac pretty much anywhere (except India ), but the things that do vary are price, menu (some overseas still have pizza...and spaghetti), options and manager willingness to give you too many non-menu extras (like McNugget sauces, etc.).

Enjoy your McD's location. It's not universal. In fact, you might find your ability to do things like this (and this goes for most fast food chains) will actually change by work shift/employee change.
Some will, some won't, some just don't care.

I tried this at lunch today, and they were not going for it. I took one for the team. In fact the realy cute girl behind the counter said the "Mac Sauce" was not a "standard condiment". Even apologized. So cute. Oh well. the offending, sans Mac sauce burger is rocketting through my guts like a bullet train as we speak.

these.pipes.will.be.clean.

And yeah, the McDouble is the "budget" double cheeseburger, as in they only give one slice of cheese, and in the few locations I've visited for begrudgelunch, no mustard either.

So, since I've gotten so much valuable information from this site, I think I'll give some back.

So, you're hankering for a Big Mac, however you dont have the $3.50 or so required to purchase one. What do you do? The answer in three easy steps.

1. Order a McDouble
2. Substitute ketchup and mustard for Mac sauce
3. Add shredded lettuce

And there you have it, for $1.00-$1.10 (depending on if they charge for lettuce) you get a Big Mac, sans the bun with sesame seeds, and the middle bun.

I'm guessing you didn't post anything in the Single Malt Scotch thread, did you?

I have no theory of substitutions, the OP does.

On an unrelated note, I could never understand how people could do poorly on reading comprehension tests. Different strokes, I suppose.
