The Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club Part 9

After 18+ years on teams I took some time off (18 months) to experience worship from the 'other side'. Now, I have an 'interview' with the new worship leader tomorrow. I'm not sure I want to go back there - we have been worshiping elsewhere... (other issues involved... since resolving), but I miss my friends and I miss 'that side' of worship... A LOT.

I'm praying for direction and a sense of what's right for my wife and me too.

I cannot imagine not playing on a team for 18 months. I know that some day, I may be called to do something else, somewhere else but I have to admit (confess) that I am very happy where I am right now.
Good luck. It is obvious that you know the right way to go about making a decision.

My first practice with the WT @ "The House of Prayer" went awesome! What a high level of Spirit that surrounds this WT! I'm filling in for their regular Bass Saturday Morning for a 2 hour set and then starting September I'll be the regular Bass. I'm really looking forward to being a member of this WT as they have a different style of music than my church WT plays. Here's the song set for Saturday,

Sing to The King (Billy Foote) D
Come Now is The TIme to Worship- D
You are My King ( Amazing Love) D
We Cry Out (Walker Beach) D
Made Me Glad- G
How He Loves- C
Moving With The Lamb - C
Fling Wide Open - C
More Love,More Power - Dm
Fragrant Offering (Rita Springer) D
Take Me In - Bm
Mercy Seat - C#m

Plus I'll have practice with my Church WT Wed night. This should be interesting...first time for me playing with more than one band. But I feel this is the direction God's leading me right now for some reason only known to Him. I'll follow His direction every time and anytime!

Stay the course, Bro'. Someone once told me that the Lord is not an 'indian giver'. In other words, if he's given you a talent to be used for the Kingdom, he's not going to take it back (so to speak). So, if you heart's right, he'll have a place for that talent.
Prayers out,

Practice tomorrow night!

worship list:

My Savior, my God
Yesterday, Today and Forever
Wonderful Cross
How Great is Our God
He knows My Name
Enough
I Will Sing

JUST got back my Natural Skyline Lakland JO5 (had a fretless neck put on) and need to figure out which songs he will help me on!

Practice last night was fun and interesting. Set list:

Call to Worship:

Jesus Lead On - E (really got jammin' to this one, took our time on the intro and bridges everyone taking some licks)

Worship Set:

As It Is In Heaven - G
Lord Reign In Me - G
Everything Glorious - C (had some fun with octaves)
How Great Is Our God / How Great Thou Art - C (little medley we threw together that worked out well)

Closing Song:

How Can I Keep From Singing - G

Drummer wasn't able to show for practice, so after a couple songs, our electric guitar sat in on drums. He plays but hadn't played in a band in a while, did pretty good but kept speeding up.

BTW, our electric guitar player loves the blues, so on that first tune, Jesus lead on, we had some really good blues riffs going!

One weird thing about last night since the room is always empty except for us, a cricket got in somehow. We'd stop playing and all you'd hear would be this cricket chirping away. It just seemed so silly playing on stage and then stopping and hearing a cricket. Sort of a musicians worst nightmare kinda thing! After a few songs the sound guy had enough and went on a search and destroy mission which was quite funny too.

The youth group leaders are handling the service this Sunday. We (the WT) are actually going to have a practice tonight. I am really looking forward to not only the practice but some quality fellowship time with my Christian family. We'll order-up some pizza's or something and have a nice relaxing, worshipful evening making some joyful noise. Can't wait.
