I thought at first that it saved him from starvation while trapped for weeks on end, but that could also have hastened his demise. I guess the actual story has a happier ending.
He's a bloody good butcher and deserves to live......

His black pudding is to die for...Ha!.....

His meat is always top notch and his Pork Scratchings, I guess that the Septics among you would call them Pork rinds, are made on site and are the best I've ever tasted anywhere....drool

I was on the flight home from vacation, and the plane was a turboprop. I kinda wondered, obviously they do what they can to keep the motors running as close to an identical speed as possible - but it's inevitable that through variations in measurement tools, production, and imperfection in engineering that one engine will be faster than the other - by some minute amount. Now I can't stop wondering what effect that may have on the fuselage/overall structure of the plane, and to what extent the engines would have to operate differently in order for an engineer/tech to consider repair or corrective work.

I doubt it is very critical. After all, aren't the props feathered/trimed independently of one another?

I know so little of the subject that I don't know what that means.
The engines of larger airplanes have adjustable propellers, the angle of the blades on each engine can be controlled by the pilot. Feathering is done when a engine fails, to increase the glide of the plane, the propellers are turned into the wind to decrease drag.

If you wind up back where you started after one hour...there's a problem.

That's interesting. Now I want to find some reading on the subject, just need to finish up the dune series, then onto Hyperion, then the lonesome Commander and some book on conception of Battle by ardant du pique...
 
Why does it make a difference what type of propulsion it is? I’m pretty sure that a twin engine plane can fly on just one engine.

By the way, my father likes to tell the story of when he was in the army he trained to be a control tower operator. One day in 1945, after the war in Europe had ended, he was working in the tower in Frankfort Germany when they got a distress call from a pilot that was coming in on one engine. It turned out to be a single engine plane.

I don’t know how true the story was, but it made him happy to tell it.
