Ya... I hope they put on their pizza cuttin' shoes. :cautious:

I thought it was Laugh In.
It may have been used by more than one person in that era, but I regularly heard it from Carson. Of course, who knows... maybe he cribbed it from Rowan & Martin, or it just cross-pollinated among comedians, just because it was (is) funny.

EDIT: Yep, Carson cribbed it, but with permission (L.A. Times). :D
Johnny Carson, who moved “The Tonight Show” from New York to Los Angeles in 1972, also used the “beautiful downtown Burbank” line but never tried to take credit for it.

“He said, ‘We’re using “beautiful downtown Burbank,” and I told him, ‘That’s fine — not a problem,’” Owens recalled.

Carson and others who quoted him invariably delivered Owens’ line with more than a hint of sarcasm.

'Beautiful downtown Burbank' creator wants 'Tonight Show' to stay

Family heirloom Antique China stuff has little to no value. You can’t even give it away.
You can at a local University with dorms on campus. Them youngsters need nice plates and bowels to eat on.

A nice gold banded bone china will make you King or Queen while eating cereal and pizza. Do not get me started on Tea Time.

Sad but true. The tradition of being formal and having a family conversation around the table is fading away. Kids young adults, don’t much care for these possessions so there’s hoards of fancy expensive antique china just sitting in storage.

Good luck with a Grandfather Clock also.
People of any age these days do not bother with clocks as decoration anymore, let alone one that sits on the floor.
Except @shadowtippy of course.

This is so true, and such a source of consternation for me. As the firstborn of Ma & Pa Winslow, I've been bequeathed so much "heirloom" stuff, it's just about chokes me. To make things even more pointless though, Mrs. Winslow and I have no heirs of our own! What in the flaming Hades am I supposed to do with this stuff?? :help:

It's bad enough I have to figure out who to leave all my music gear to!

Of course, there's always the build-a-pyramid-and-take-it-with-me option... :p

Jam session with King Tut, Ramses, and the Nile Delta Boys... sure, that'll work.

Indeed. I’ve got loads of China that used to be valuable at one time, all boxed up. It saddens me someone went out and spent good money on it only to end up commonly categorized as unwanted. I never tried to sell any of it but I see other people trying to with zero luck.

Good luck with a Grandfather Clock also.

Got two of them. :(
