When we get a heavy rain, the frog noise at night is incredible. I guess they are all on their cell phones, cause they cant text.

My swimming pool has been and continues to be a frog mating ground for years, no people have been in it since I got it.

Once upon a time, the continent of North America was almost torn in two. A giant long hole called a rift was created. Can you say rift? I knew you could!
So the rift centered near Michigan. And when the earth split, lots of hot rock called lava flowed up and flowed for a very long time. Most of the lava is buried now, but the big hole became Lake Superior. And the rift stopped getting bigger and healed itself. Otherwise, Kansas and Nebraska would be a great big sea today, and we would be fishing instead of raising corn.
So all that lava did a very special thing near a place called the Keweenah Peninisula. It brought lots of a very useful metal called copper to the surface. And this copper was very special because it was very pure and you could just collect the copper to make tools and jewelry and spoons. You didnt have to put in a fire to make it useful. And many, many years later, that's exactly what the Native American Indians did. They made tools and jewelry for 6000 years and it went all over, even down to Mexico, because pure copper is very rare.
