By the way, for anyone thinking about purchasing a 4005 and wondering which gig bag will work, I recommend the RoadRunner RR5TEB-ESP Highway Premium Electric Bass Gig Bag available through GC or MF. They're already affordable, but go on sale quite often. Available in either Black or Espresso.

The cool part is that white foam pieces in the bottom padding liner pad are removable, which will accommodate the extra length of a stock 4005:

You and me both!!!
And me... good to see they're bringing it back, sad to realize I may never afford one. At least I have my funky little Shaftesbury 3263, the bass Rickenbacker never built (basically a copy of a 330 guitar)! (There's that anniversary model in the post above, but that wasn't around when the Shaftesbury was built 50 years ago! So basically Rickenbacker copied the Shaftesbury :D)

Doesn't a 5K bass come with a hard case?

I still my old Kaces III bag that the 4005WB fit into; I got it with the first Rick Turner bass.

Is it bad my immediate thought was "Bummer they didn't use the extra wide skunk stripe like on the originals"?
Agreed. Not that I could see it anyway on my old one. :D
