Very cool. But... I'm wondering about the potential for an exploding 'R' tailpiece...

Complete one off! A friend of mine replicated it with a 4003s as a donor.
Brazed?!? I would hope we're WELDING them damn thing together if it's in multiple pieces...
Well, if Ric's market research shows people will buy a 4003 for ~$1000 +/- over what they list for currently, then I'm sure they'd be doing crushed pearl inlays on 4003s.
I mean, this is more of a vintage reissue than not (i.e.m 4005V), no?
Hmmm....that pickup placement....I'm not rushing out to buy one at that price anyway but what do they sound like?
I don't know, but I assume they are truly hollow with an X-brace like the old ones.
I did install a BA II on mine back in the mid '70s for a while before coming to my senses and reinstalling the stock bridge and tailpiece.

Because that's how they're placed on the original 4005 from the 60s-80s…

This thread is evil…I actually dreamt last night of that bass.
Oh man...I heard about the British Racing Green and Satin Fireglo 4005's a few days ago. To see them included here on video is pretty wild.
I'd love to see either a 4005, 4003 (or 4002) bass in BRG with the gold pickguard, TRC and checkerboard binding.
