Would it be blasphemous/wrong to add a plexi tug bar to this bass?
I'm kind of a "keep it stock" guy. It looks naked without it. IMO
Would it be bad for potential re-sale down the road? (no plans for that)

Could always secure it to the pickguard without drilling holes, with a glue or strong tape hidden under the bar. If you want to actually use it though thats a different story haha

I thought about that. Double sided tape with the screws cut off.
I don't use them…it would be just aesthetics.

I was kinda hoping that the pickguard from the 4005XC model (with the 2nd deck) would be a direct overlay for the 4005 pickguard, but a quick glance made me realize no such luck.

Adding a plexi tug bar is certainly an option. Before taking permanent action, maybe consider adding a cool, non-permanent removable sticker to fill the blank spot to see if that fills the blank real estate in a satisfactory way? I'm generally not a sticker guy at all, but that triangular area may lead to an interesting find.

Get another pick guard to destroy put on it. I solve problems, its what I do.

Personally I think it looks better without the tug bar / thumb rest - but then I always remove them anyway.

I certainly wouldn't want to drill into a new 4005, just to add a cosmetic throwback - but obviously, it's your choice.

Likewise, if I had one, I wouldn't dream of selling it.
