That's what I was thinking. Reminded me of Billy Sheehan saying he used stove bolts to permanently attach the strap to his old P-bass.
embarrased to admit--in the 70's, after my new 74 P took one dive too many, I installed hook-eyes on the bass and dog leash snaps on the strap. never took another fall and it's like that to this day! That and a replaced pg are the only non-stock parts on it. I never play that bass anymore (don't like p necks or maple necks) but I'd never sell her 'cause she's my first!

Why'd they discontinue them if they were so good then?
