I wonder what that ETA Houser would fetch on ebay these days? I'd bet it would go for a lot more than $625.

Prolly whatever a Lava one is worth, plus a heavy premium for the metal. There can't be but a handful in existence (if that).

I was asleep at the wheel, by the time I woke up the auction had ended 2 days before. So I emailed the seller and offered him $700 shipped. Too late, he traded it at an Austin guitar shop. Never seen another since. Bummed was I.

Has anyone ever seen a Engined 4 banger? Me either, there could be none. Which seems like a real waste of "kitsch".

Personally, I really love the corrugated aluminum top. Sometimes the ETAs and bugeyes seem almost too blingy at times.

Has anyone found the best cleaner for that yet?

Thanks for reminding me. Someone on one of these boards recommended the Mr. Clean Eraser for cleaning the sides. My wife bought me one, but I forgot all about it. I just tried it and it worked great. Still a little yellowing around the neck pocket, but otherwise very nice.

There's a post on the Rev board where that guy is looking to fix a crack in that corrugated 5L. I wish him luck.

I would still like to look over Rev's records and see how many basses there were and what varieties.

The "water weight" Super Glue #10 is really good at wicking into cracks and saving things like that...
Haven't used it in this application.

I bet Joe would have some ideas.

So I guess it depends on what the approximate ratio of guitars to basses was. If it was 4:1, then that would mean the total number of basses made was around 1000.

I would like to know too. Has no one ever asked over on the Rev forum?

Even tho they seem to pop up regularly lately, I still suspect there may have been well less than 1000 built, as generally the guitar/bass ratio is (I think) closer to 9:1, or at least I read that somewhere.

Plus, Rev guitar production got a head start on the basses, of what....1-2 years?

I know that when I was seriously hunting Fishes there were always several Rev guitars on ebay, while the basses were few and far between. Frustrated was I.

Thanks, I'll try that.

It's amazing how fast the plastic sides get dirty, they're like "grime magnets".

I used soapy water and scrubbed with the "cleanser" side of one of those two-tone blue kitchen sponges, and most of the green stuff came off. Some of the discoloration seems permanent, though.
As far as ratio of basses to guitars, anyone remember when Rumblefish #1 was on eBay a few years ago? I thnk the overall serial # was in the low 300s. And there were more guitar models than there were for bass. I'm guessing less than 1,000 total basses.

That would mean there were only around 500 basses made. (runs off to check the 'fish tank . . . yep, still have three -- Whew!).

Yeah. They started in '97, and the first basses came out in late '98 IIRC.

Me too. Guitars show up fairly often on my local cragislist, but I've yet to see a bass up for sale there.

FWIW, those Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are really good for many things. That would be my first choice.

Apparently that makes my Rev a 99... cool. It looks great for 9 years old!
