Here is my modified fish.... started as a black, jazz bass with a white moto guard. I got it as a basket case with the front painted orange. I changed it to a pj installed a black guard, custom luther lee pickups. Hipshot ultralights new pots and a orange drop cap. also a badass bridge. I have alot of basses and this one is my goto fav. Also have a double J green rumblefish. pics soon.

Hey Brad, just had to tell you, it was your quote in a Reverend ad way back in 1998 - "best 4-string I've ever owned" - that inspired me to get my first Rumblefish. So, thanks for the hookup! I still have that bass, and Reverends have been my favorites over the years.

Thanks for confirming my original thoughts.....I thought it sounded kinda compressed as well. I thought the over all balance, tonally, was perfect though. I put some Daddarrio rounds on it. It helped, but it still wasn't there. I have Chromes on my 5L, which I love, but I wasn't sure how they'd sound on the new ones. I'll have to try it. Ken, from Rev, was thinking about orderering me some hipshots to put on mine. He said if he could here a difference, he'd consider making them stock. Think I'll try to make him remember he said that!

the dub king is amazing. and i didn't get to play it with flats!!! it is the ****.

putting hipshot ultralights on made a HUGE difference!!!!! i use DR flats, and the bass "opened up" and got a lot woodier. the heavy stock tuners were compressing and smearing the sound, and it was a little neck heavy.

I'm imagining a dub king with a mercalli 5 neck. bridge all the way back. when i put my mercalli 5 next to a dub king, and aligned the nuts, i saw that it would work.

Lakland flats on BH5 are awesome. i also love DR flats on anything I've put them on.

mercalli spacing is awesome. also the wider spacing on the new 4's is great. but i like p-basses...........

Lakland and DR flats rule.

I was just over at the Reverend Forums & noticed this add in the for sale pages;


1) Rumblefish JJ. Earlier production SN# 505 marked Bass # 63. Naylor signed. Black / Black / Rosewood. Torg guard. White Pups. Everything is original and in good to excellent cond except the following:<br><br>

- Scratchy pot(s)
- One replacement knob doesn't match 100%. Might be original but it doesn't match.
- Back was cracked when I got it. I recently had Joe's music replace the rear laminate. They did a perfect job.$800.

2) Rumblefish PJ. SN # 4102. Green signed. Black / Black / Rosewood. White guard. Black pups. Everything is original and in good to excellent condition. Pots may be a little scratchy IIRC.$900.

I have one tuxedo case. $100

that seems reasonable on the prices. These fish def swin in schools!! I looked and searched forums for months until I found one and now there are 3 avail (these 2 and ebay)Very funny. My new decision bass arrives wends. Review to follow!

OK Friday my new Reverend Decision arrived!! The bass was packed great and I will give a full review in a few days when it has been put through the paces at the studio and a couple live gigs. But here is my quick first impressions.

The neck feels fantastic! Nice satin finish that is smooth and comfortable. I love the block inlay. The musicman or p bass or whatever it is called is fantastic. More output and more rounded than my stingray pickup. Great weight and great balance. Love the new body shape.. very comfortable. The finish is great ...
So now the not so good
The machines (this has already been mentioned from Brad) They are very bulky feeling and I have ordered a set of ultralights from hipshot. I use them on my rumblefishes and I am hoping they make a difference.

The jazz bass pickup kinda falls flat next to the brick pickup, I have to set the bass up more for me which I will do before the studio and maybe that will make the difference.

I will say it is a more solid feeling than the rumblefish...

A more detailed professionally thought out review will be coming after I put her through all the paces. But all in all I give it a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars !!!
