FWIW, I'm having my BH5 worked on (new straplocks, some fret sprout taken care of), and when I was talking with my luthier, he said that if he replaced the wiring with higher quality, shorter wires, it might brighten up the sound a little bit.
He's also going to experiment with trying some different capacitors in it to see if it improves the sound. Generally, I wouldn't mess with/modify an instrument at all, but my luthier is someone I trust completely -- he'll make it sound better, or he'll leave it stock.
I'll let y'all know the results when I get it back from him.
