Nice score, Alan!!! :)

FWIW, I'm having my BH5 worked on (new straplocks, some fret sprout taken care of), and when I was talking with my luthier, he said that if he replaced the wiring with higher quality, shorter wires, it might brighten up the sound a little bit.

He's also going to experiment with trying some different capacitors in it to see if it improves the sound. Generally, I wouldn't mess with/modify an instrument at all, but my luthier is someone I trust completely -- he'll make it sound better, or he'll leave it stock.

I'll let y'all know the results when I get it back from him.

Just curious, but is there any info out there on these basses? I can't really find any specs even from Reverends archives. My first question would be what is the string spacing on the 5L's?

Reverend used to have the owners manuals as pdf's on their site. Gone now:(
I'd sure like to have copy's for 5L, BH5, and P/J Rumblefish if anyone can make them...

So what's the difference between all the rumblefish models? I'm a total rumblefish noob.

From what I've been reading, there's the L, XL, J, JJ, PJ, BH and their respective string amounts.

I know the difference between the J and the PJ, but what are the rest?

I have both a 5L, and a BH5.
The 5L barks and grinds, plenty of highs on that bass.
I thought the BH5 would be "twice as good," but I find mine to be muuuuch darker, even with stainless rounds.

Are your BH5's all dark like that?

As I said, I'm having some work done on mine, and we'll see what happens with that. If it brightens it up, I'll be sure to let you know exactly what is done.

I wouldn't say my BH5 is a lot darker than my 5L. It may be a great candidate for some TI flats though. That's the next direction I'm thinking of heading.

Have you tried favoring the bridge pickup in single coil mode? I pretty much leave the bridge pickup in single coil mode with the volume all the way up, then add a little or more of the neck pickup depending on the sound I'm wanting.
