When I bought my BH5, it was languishing at Mountian Music in KC, MO, along with a safety orange P/J, and a couple JJ's.

That P/J would have looked so good in my collection.

I still get "fish envy" every time I see 4mal's safety orange P/J.

The Reverend dealer near me never carried their basses.

Chef and I have imagined that particular combination before. Owning both a Dark Starred bass and a pair of Reverends, I can say with confidence that I'd love to get my hands on a Dark Starred 'fish. MMMMmmm. Tasty.

I found my first fish hanging unsold at a local music shop several years ago in El Cerrito. I got it for about half of what I am paying today.

Call me a party pooper buy I like the sound of the Rev pickups. I find that the DS pups pick up too much finger noise for my taste. Then again, I'm a half arsed player so my results may vary Another consideration is I would be cautious about milling deep pockets into that center section between the neck and bridge. It's not like a regular bass with a solid body for support. It might be a good question to run by Mr. Naylor. Has anyone done it before?? I'd hate to see someone turn a Rumblefish into a Pretzelfish

Hmmmm ...

Since some of you guys have looked under the pickguard (I haven't yet) is there room to add a Dark Star?

If so ... then with two seperate pickguards it would be nothing to change the whole assembly, just quick disconnects on the grounds.

Ya'll know I'm a HUGE DS fan ... and not shy about putting them in my basses ...

I also love the sound of the Reverend pups, but I am really itching to try a DS'd bass. A Duck Dunn sig with a DS would really tempt me.

I just picked up a dpleII w/ a DS--very sexy and mid-growly--I like it for what it is, but I would never DS a fish--it looks cool DS'd--they're the coolest looking pup out there, but I love the sound of the fish the way it is--best sounding, playing and looking basses I own. My motto: "don't f*ck w/ my 'fish"!!! Of course, YMMV!

The Lakland pictured is pretty much a Duck with a maple board ... the same neck Adam Clayton has on his JO so it is a Jazz taper neck. Awesome bass BTW.


... Doubt I'll convert the Fish ... just food for thought, I like it stock too.

Got my 1st fish from zzounds on clearance for stoopid cheap, w/teardrop case. Was the last one there (sigh).
