Every one of these are making me envious as I'm trying to track down black pieces for my 4003S/5. The tuners may be the hardest since it seems that Schaller has made the M4 screws line up differently than they are on mine. Tracking those down in black seems to be a problem.

Oh, and you have a very nice JG bass - I saw the pics a couple pages back. If you want to shine it up to almost like new get some Meguire's Scratch-X 1 (NOT the 2.0) and then use Zymol (the blue stuff) to give it a wet water finish. Use a soft cotton diaper.

My pleasure. Just make sure it is not the Scratch-X 2.0. Somewhere over there Paul W recommends a different scratch remover, but I can't remember and couldn't find it, though I didn't have a lot of time to look.

Scott, those basses used to live really close to you. Jeff (Ric5) used to live in Clinton, IIRC.

Thanks but it's Gums. Incidentally, I'll let all of you Rockin' Rickenbackin' Lovers in on a little secret---since this is the best thread that I can think of. GUMS is actually my last name. No foolin'. I get a kick outta of all the inventive names that people can come up. Some are quite clever and very original. Couldn't come up with anything very distinctive so hey, why not go with the original moniker? Todd Gums, 43 yoa, Bismarck, ND proud 4001 owner since July 1983. Glad to be offically on board!

It's not as bad as having a last name of Bonjovi and working at a music store...

Ok guys....

(sorry cell phone is all i have at the moment)

yesterday being Christmas we dropped by on a little old lady we know...her dryer died.....we took her our old one (as we got a new one)....long story short she knows i play.....he son used to play this, but is no longer with us....

she thought it was from the 70's, but according to the serial # it was made in November of 1986....the original pups have been replaced the ones in it now have seymour duncan logo's on them

it is all black but has a broken (dash line) white binding...the fretboard has black dot inlays instead of the shark fin.....

anybody?
