The Right Bass for me

Well I have been playing bass for about a year now on a old squire and i want to get something more unique and fitting to my style. I like to slap, be funky and want a more standout punchy sound but isn't so intense that i can't be smoothed out and jazzy. I've been researching different aspects of basses and I think I know some of the qualities I want.

The things That I know my bass needs are double humbucking pickups, Neck through composition, master control volume, 24 frets and active pickups. The things that I would really like is to have all three low mid and high tuning knobs, a built in compression switch (though I've only ever seen that on one bass) and, if its affordable, a graphite neck (not sure if you can do that with neck through) my price range is probable around $500 maybe $600 tops.

My problem is that i don't really know where to even start when it comes to finding such specific specs without going custom and making it way too expensive for me now. (my local shops, Lansing MI, have a total of one neck through bass to choose from) so I was wondering if you could think of a bass model that fits most of what I'm looking for or a website that allows for sorting through for specific specs to help my out? Any ideas?
