The Rumor of Paul

THe DJ was from Detroit, and it was in November 1969. Thus, the Beatles could not have been playing along with the rumour, as it didn't become a rumour until several months after thay had stopped recording. In any case, clearly the lads had something to do with pumping out all those visual and aural "clues."
So, the rumour is unsubstantiated (and clearly a pile of crap), but clearly the phenomenon of the clues is real - there are just too many to be pure coincidence - although some of the "clues" are a bit tenuous at best. If I'm feeling lazy tonight I'll either list them here or link to some websites. Some of them are pretty interesting. For example, if you hold a small mirror up against the words "Lonely Hearts" on the bass drum on the Pepper cover, you can see a cryptic message. To do this, hold the mirror so that it blocks the lower half of the two words. In other words, the edge of the mirror is a horizontal line through the middle of the words. This way, you see the upper half of the letters and the reflection of the upper half of the letters in the mirror.
The message reads: I ONE I X HE ^ DIE. The ^ is pointing up at Paul.
You are confusing the ridiculousness of the rumour with the ridiculouness that the clues were planted.
Open minded skepticism is the only way I can approach a question like this.

There's definitely some chicanery going on but how much verifiable evidence for Paul's death is there?
I think anyone making an absolute pronouncement on either side of this one is believing what he wants to believe.

Paul for sure is alive. He did not die.
The fake clues of the "Paul is Dead" hoax shows it was no doubt perpertrated, and the Beatles obviously were "in on it" to some extent. There's too many to deny. Many of them were planted by them,("here's another clue for you all - the walrus was paul" and all that) lots are just dumb things people came up with (86% of coffins in the UK are made from "Norwegian Wood" and the like)

I tend to agree with you but my point is that you need to present a body of verifiable evidence to make the absolute pronouncement.

I watched this a while back and it was amusing. It does a good job of listing each death clue from their albums. It is worth the watch if you are a Beatlemaniac like myself but it is pure nonsense.

The body of verifiable evidence or proof is presented that there were clues to a "Paul is Dead" hoax. There is no proof or evidence that Paul actually died. Well... maybe that he is still one of the world's finest singers/songwriters/ musicians/bassists of all time points to the fact that he did not die..
Wasn't this whole thing started by "Uncle Russ" Gibb? He used to own the the Grande Ballroom and the Easttown in my home town of Detroit. He had a Saturday afternoon radio show on WKNR-FM. I always wanted to make a vinyl record and the backwards message would be "You're ruining your needle, you're running your needle....
And if you play "Maybe I'm Amazed" backwards, you get a recipe for some really rippin' lentil soup.
Ok, you're missing my point. All you have right now is your own say so. To convince me you need to present the evidence, not just tell me it exists, SHOW it to me. The main problem with "conspiracy theorists" and "de-bunkers" alike is they don't follow some very basic rules that go back at least as far as Plato and probably a lot further.
The first is to gather your information or evidence to the best of your ability omitting nothing even if it conflicts with your established beliefs.
Second weigh the information you've gathered....

Third communicate your findings. Part of communicating your findings might include convincing me you've done a good job of gathering and weighing. So far you haven't. Don't sweat it too much though it's a lot of work I don't really expect you to do. Just don't expect me to completely buy what you're saying.
Don't take all this too personally...I'm also saying this stuff to the majority of people reading. Unless you went to an elite prep school you have to really go out of your way to learn this kind of thinking. It's completely incompatible with being a good consumer and uncomplaining worker bee. Search "trivium education" and you'll find enough info on the first page to convince you I'm not talking completely outta my ass.
I just saw this a couple of months ago. Pure nonsense, indeed...but it sure was a lot of fun. I love well done conspiracy theories.
Is there such a shortage of current conspiracy theories that we need to debate conspiracy theories from the sixties? I mean, really?
