So here I am again guys, on another "help me get the Joe Principe sound" thread. I think I'm pretty close actually, I have an American Standard P, the Tech 21 BDDI and the Quarter-Pounders. If you don't know who he is or any of these pieces of gear, please, do a bit of research cause I'm gonna need everyone's help here. So, what I'd like you to do is to try and give me your opinion on the best settings to dial: - on the SansAmp, direct into the PA; - on the SansAmp and on my Roland Cube-30; - and on the SansAmp and on the GK 400RB. Don't forget to include the blend control on the last two. Any help is great. THANKS GUYS, YOU'RE THE BEST!
Joe Principe is always going to sound like himself, and you will always sound like you. Now that you've got that out of the way, just play with your stuff, have fun with it, and don't worry about copping his identical tone. If you find it along the way, then that's awesome, but it may not even work for you to have his exact tone, so I'm in the school of "don't worry about it and find YOUR voice." Not what you wanted to hear, of course, but it's the right answer
The thing is, I'd like to have his distortion in my sound, and I know he uses the BDDI. The problem: if I boost the drive, it justs makes the sound louder, so I try boosting a bit of the presence for the drive to cut through, but then the overall sound becomes too harsh.
