As I'm sure you know I frequent the Off Topic forums here, but I think that my problem might bother more than just myself as I'm sure it's been discussed before.
The search function on here seems useless. I try to look something up, but it only searches a few key words. It takes out anything besides a Noun it seems. I don't know how I'm supposed to find specific threads when all I can look up is a few key words that are tossed around here a lot.
For instance, I was looking today for the most recent "Show yourself" thread in the OT, and for the life of me, no matter what I typed in the search bar I could not find any. I typed in "Show yourself Thread" and it only looked up "show". A lot of good that did me. So then I tried, "Show yourself picture thread". It looked up "show" and "picture". Again, no help.
That's just one example, but I think you get my drift. Is there a way you guys could have it actually look up all of the words you type into the search bar? It seems like somehow the formula it uses to find stuff is very vague. Also, I realize that there's probably a way I'm not seeing to search specifically something, but if you have to look for it, what good is the search function anyway? Especially for newer people to the forums.
That said, the other suggestion I was thinking was that it would be pretty sweet if we got a "notification" or something, as a lot of other forums seem to do, when someone replies to your post or thread, or even if there was a notification for when someone quotes you, that'd be awesome.
I realize this isn't a social networking site like Fb and I don't expect it to be, but I'd like to not have to refresh the page every so often to find out if someone has replied to something I post or not.
