the stage is a trailer: a rodeo gig

Played a gig last night with a decent up and coming red dirt country band. We played after a rodeo as the closing act (background music while everyone exits the stands and 15 people come watch the set)

Set up on the gooseneck flatbed, kit, amps, monitors etc. and pulled out into the dirt arena to plug into to power for the soundcheck, the rolled off and pulled back out once rodeo was complete and the set was going to start.

Overall went well, despite them throwing some songs in that I hadn't played before but simple enough that I could fake the funk and go carrots. And I got free Busch lite.

Walked away with cash in hand and an invitation to play the next year's rodeo so I'll call it a win.

That's a nice flatbed. Played on one that had missing planks so the BL had to go out and get plywood sheets to cover the gaps. Had to make sure not step back too far since it was a 5 foot drop!

I've played on flatbeds but not had them move after we were set up. I bet your drummer loved it.

It got windy and his hi hat blew over while it was staged behind the arena. We held onto the monitors and he held his hardware while the trailer was moving to prevent it falling.

Exactly. I had my mouthpiece clink against my teeth more than once. (I played trombone) One trumpeter chipped a tooth, and a saxophonist fell off the trailer. (he was OK, but his horn wasn't) Perhaps other things happened, as well, but these stick out.
