The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Definitely interested in your stuff, it all looks crazy good. My only concern is the power draw. I’d love to grab a bee pre but I’m not sure my power supply could power it properly. I do have a one spot though. Really looking forward to hearing the reviews as they come in!
Thanks :) power is definitely a concern, tubes get hungry. A 1Spot will definitely do the trick though.

This is great. If I wasn’t following along here, the thought to ask for a bass version never would have even occurred to me.
Yup, I don't think of these things until someone asks for them :P

Given that the PA and LU have essentially the same topography, what would be the difference between the two? Drive sound?
The tonestack is a little different, but placement of the tonestack is the biggest difference. In the PA the tonestack is between the gain stages, so any tone changes made affect the way the second stage reacts. In LU the tone stack is at the very end, meaning less gain loss between stages so the second stage gets pushed a little harder and the tone shaping all happens post gain. This also (in my experience) makes it a little more stable when the gain is turned up high.

The sound is similar for sure, but they're different enough to warrant me continuing to make both.

Who wants in on a business venture? Buy one of every pedal in top-mount, build a single pedalboard with all of them, then rent it out for people to try :roflmao:
On TGP they talk about "tour boxes" where somebody makes one pedal to send around for free, and each person plays with it for a week or so then sends it on to the next person, each person just pays shipping. I've thought about doing that, but haven't committed to the idea.

But also, if anyone is in the general Chicago area and wants to try something out, just let me know and I'd be happy to accommodate :)

I use mine with a Cioks DC7...works flawlessly...gets pretty warm though!

I can see why those vents are necessary....

Thatd be an interesting idea. Wonder how you prevent someone from just keeping it and disappearing, besides faith in decent humans?

Oooooo.....new pedals on the site! Robot Butterfly (cant wait to see the graphics; how much in royalties does your daughter get from each sale, lol), and Echosaurus.

@Sushi Box FX is selling out 3 months of spots normal, or do you feel order load has increased sie to anything specific? (TB, TGP, Facebook, etc)

I’m about 5 hours away, but occasionally come up that way. I’d love to play more of the pedals someday! I’m VERY excited about my Wattson though

I'll get around to more details on them soon, and eventually even demos if I feel ambitious :P My new digital chips will be here in a week or so, but I still have one on hand so I'm going to be building myself a Robot Butterfly, that will give me a chance to iron out the graphics and negotiate royalties :P

So this is actually the first time I've ever tried the pre-order thing. Previously I just built one of everything I do, sold the ones I could, and would build one more to replace them when they were gone, and I would take custom orders by request. Naturally this created a surplus in the pedals nobody liked and a shortage of the ones they did, and wasn't very profitable. I've had a few people (including several on this site) to get logistics figured out to get more distributed, and the waitlist idea seemed to be a winner. I don't have to overwhelm myself building a million at a time, but people can continue ordering whenever they want and I'll just get to them eventually.

I think I’m gonna need an Echosaurus.
If I’d seen this last night I would’ve snapped up the last of the December spots.
The Echosaurus is pretty sweet, the picture on the website is of the one on my personal pedalboard  Delay is a must for me, and this is probably the best one I've ever heard. Until I find a way to put a tube in it....

Agree. I need to snag a spot next chance.... kicking myself :)
I promise I'll open the next ones soon, I just need a little time to get things organized. There are a couple new models I'm hoping to have available by January, including at least two that are INCREDIBLY exciting, but I'm not ready to announce them yet. Also as soon as the November slots sold out I went ahead and ordered a UV printer :P So January and the months following will come with a price increase as the new pedals started in January will be UV printed instead of laser engraved. Also I'm in the process of setting up my new CNC machine which came last week, and that's going to help with quality as well.

Maybe I'll open up the January slots now so people can get in, and I'll mention that if you reserved something for January but something cooler is announced before then you can go back and change your order.

I promise I'll open the next ones soon,

I am totally not complaining… Honestly I think that the way that you are doing this is really cool and really fair. And your responsiveness and being super accommodating to special requests is really awesome. I totally had a chance to snag a spot but I did not, that’s on me :) but I’m definitely super excited to order something from you.

Maybe if we can stop bugging you so much on the forum here you’ll actually have time to build some pedals

So I'm not going to post this anywhere but here, but I just did this: https://www.sushiboxfx.com/product-page/january-2021-pedal-spot

And seriously, I need to get building, so I'll probably sign off for the night and get back to it. On that note though, if you ordered a Slampegg Bee Pre or Particle Accelerator in the October batch, your circuit board has been soldered up and will go to testing tonight

@letsgethandsome @Lowendtech there ya go, January spots, sign up now

I love the reserve-a-spot system you've setup. No worries about missing pedal releases, and we get to support you by giving you money up front, which I know helps with stock/new toys when you're doing this for fun.

Tempted...buy a January spot becuase I want <whateverthenewpedalsare> or not...lol. that's the only issue with telling me that something exciting is coming...now I want it and I dont even know what it is!

What are all of the options for the Robot Butterfly? ...and is there any chance of a secondary tap tempo foot switch?
