I posted this in the Rumble forum, but I thought I would share it here since I ran my finally. V1 as a “Space Heater”. Which I always wanted to ask, is the transformer tied to the 1/4” out of the finally. V1? The rig just sounded great! No doubt my NOS Raytheon 12Ax7 was adding some flavor.


So it’s been a while since I actually played through an amp at a gig. I am IEM with my tribute band of 13 years, but still own a lot of amps and cabs.

Which leads me to this. I used my Rumble 500c atop of my Rumble 112, for an annual Cook County forest preserve picnic that my good friend puts on every year.

I ran a boss bass compressor through a HPF, out to a SushiBox finally. V1, into the Rumbles input. No controls on the preamp were used. Just gain at about 3.5 and volume at 6.5.

I loved it. Even though I’ve owned the combo for 5 years and the 112 for 3 years, I’ve only used this rig in my music room at low volume.

Now I’m rethinking maybe pulling this rig out every now and again and leaving the IEM at home. Not a bad load in/out.

Them Rumble speakers are great too. I run my board into the FX Return of a 500 + 2 x 10 cab. Sounds really good.

I do the same at home in my music room. I am 100% IEM on both my gigs, but I didn’t realize how much I missed an amp behind me.

The rig sounded great! And it was also an easy load in/out.

I'll respectfully suggest that questions about the fine points of any of the Talkbass rules (including the Commercial User Policy) should be directed to a staff member in a private message; perhaps with a suggestion that they could publish relevant questions and clarifications where they are visible to all members.

AFAIK no sushi pedal made after November or December 2023 require anything like that. I wish Nathan was here to respond definitively

I concur, Neptunium came out after discovered that the mod needing doing and was subsequently incorporated into all new pedals.

@4Mal I'd drop Nathan an email, his legendary service isn't just restricted to (no)Talkbass, it would be great and useful to understand the issue and resolutioin

Hey all Sushi Box fans, I'm not sure it's best for me to post publicly but I've been through this soooo many times with different commercial users over the past 25 years.... The rules are simple. If you use TB to conduct customer service, you'll get a warning. If you do it again, you'll get a second warning. If you post sales dialogue (stock, inventory info etc) you'll get a warning. If you get about 3 or 4 of these warnings and refuse to even try to understand the rules or talk to us about them, you get a temp suspension of 30 days.

Commercial users can answer direct questions about their product (and discuss anything else not related). That's the way it's been for more than a decade.

If you have questions about the CUP, contact us (the link is in the footer). Please don't derail this thread and risk violating our other rules.

Other than the spambots and the like, no one is banned from TalkBass without warning. There are are warnings, and first, second, and third strikes. We're not going to discuss details about specific members. I understand that this can mean that stories get out, but we're not going to do it.

As suggested a few posts ago, thread posts that are questioning of moderation can result in a rule 5 violation of the TOS. I'm not doing any warnings with the posts that are up on this page, but please get back to topic (as I know the poster before me is trying to do).

This isn't a kind of veiled threat (really, it isn't) but if someone does want to have their account closed, feel free to send me a message rather than clutter up this thread. Similarly, if you have a question about what I've posted here, write me, or use the contact us link at the bottom to reach the other admins.

As much as I miss Nathan and fully endorse his work, I can see where some of his interactions ran afoul of the rules. We as fellow bass players need to resist asking him directly to answer the kinds of questions that he technically can’t answer. It’s great to have the builder so involved in a forum and hope we don’t lose him but it’s on us as much as him to follow the rules. I for one, do not want to wade through a bunch of hype and self promotion on Talk Bass.

IMHO it's not incumbent upon non-commercial users to know the ins and outs of the comm users rules. It's up to the comm users to know them well and if/when necessary, simply explain that a situation needs to be handled by PM or outside of TB entrirely via email in order to remain compliant.

Still experimenting. Tried driving it with a clean boost and an overdrive so far. Pleasant, not earth shattering. I plan on putting a digital multi-effect in the loop, but haven’t gotten there yet.

I made the Greenhouse my master loop for a dirt board we tracked with one night. I like it but it can be utilized better. It seemed to me to have an unreasonable amount of gain (that’s good). Looking for ideas.

I was considering putting Ian Martin Allison’s (heard it from him) trick of spring reverb into tremolo in the loop. I think he calls it his “Montana” patch. Very spaghetti western sort of thing.

As cool as it sounds… I probably wouldn’t use it a lot so I haven’t made it far on that experiment.

I have asked a few people what does a maxed out octave do in the greenhouse. No sound clips yet. I’m still curious. Like would putting a DOD Meatbox in the loop create such a rumble that fault lines would break and the earth would tremble?

Greenhouse had no problem w/B0 btw. No headroom issues. Now once I had that out of the way I could make dirt.

This is, more or less, what we used to all through the Greenhouse loop.

An unreasonably sounding amount of sculpted mayhem. The highs. The lows. The in-between bits. Even tracked it twice for stereo cuz we heard that’s what the kiddies were into.

It sounds awful. Maybe we should have stuck to mono.

What do you have in the effects loop? I'm curious how you like it. I have a Moore, which just adds the tube fun in line without the loop.
