Not happy with just the one transformer and the big inductor in there already ?
Under the inductor is the transformer for the XLR output, under the small PCB with Sushi Box written on it.
And I wish I could remember why there are 4 x 1/4" sockets at the top.

I was digging back through some of the conversations about it and there was discussion about a cab-sim & other features. Basically a cab-sim would be a difficult addition, but an effects loop was much more doable...

After happily gigging with the PMLE and Venus Z preamps, the ONLY additional feature I would ask Nathan for on these circuits would be a 10 dB pad to better anccomodate active instruments. Rack mounted preamps and hybrid bass heads have that feature. Why shouldn’t the pedal board preamp? As they stand, these preamps are relatively easily driven into clipping with active instruments. Drive is one thing; clipping is quite another.

You could turn down the internal trim pot, helps with higher output instruments

That’s what I have been doing. But, that somewhat compromises the tone stack, depending on the onboard preamp.

Good point. Unfortunately, I run a range of basses through these spanning passive to active. So, not very practical in my case.

Potential solution, buy a MORE and put it before, then dial up or back the volume depending on which bass.

Looks like the Neptunium is officially discontinued. A social media post confirmed he ended the limited run at 237 units made and no more from this point on. I kind of figured the 237 thing might be a fun way to end it on. Glad I purchased one a while back.

It also appears that he may be porting the design to the build-it-yourself C2C Electronics. Neptuniums for everyone

I swapped a UA into the slot that was filled by my VTDI for several years. I loved the tone in the basement but was sorely missing some active mid boost on stage. After a bit of a delay in customs, an RFE arrived today and now I'm in business again.

I had suggested to him that either 93 or 237 were appropriate numbers for Neptunium. Makes me smile that he decided to do that.
