I'm planning for 1590BB right now, I think I can do it. But I actually don't care for the exposed tubes, I'm planning to mount them horizontally inside the enclosure. They will be mounted on a "daughter board" with a high-reliability connector so it will be easy to pull them out and swap tubes, but they will be protected inside the enclosure. How small do you think you can make it while still incorporating 3 full size tubes AND a LED bar indicator? 1590BB? Similar size to the Lightning Boy Audio OP-2 Comp? I assume you plan on having the tubes exposed like the OP-2 and the LA-1A?
I will of course let everyone know for sure, but right now I have January 2021 as a goal. I have a schematic but I haven't laid out the board yet.Man a I want one of these comps yesterday. Sounds like several improvements on the original. Please update the thread on when we can purchase one.
I haven’t tried a new comp in a long time and I’ve never tried a tube comp!

Are you going to have a different slot for it in your store or can I purchase a January slot and switch it over when you release it?I will of course let everyone know for sure, but right now I have January 2021 as a goal. I have a schematic but I haven't laid out the board yet.
It will be sold the same way as everything else, just another pedal for a slot. If you've already purchased a january slot and want to switch it over that's totally okay, but there will obviously be an add-on cost for it.Are you going to have a different slot for it in your store or can I purchase a January slot and switch it over when you release it?
I guess I will be buying my 4th pedal from you this month... Ha.It will be sold the same way as everything else, just another pedal for a slot. If you've already purchased a january slot and want to switch it over that's totally okay, but there will obviously be an add-on cost for it.
What would you recommend for something a little different than the standard Fender for guitar use? Dr. Wattson perhaps?I actually have a JCM800 design (JC Emerald) that I built a prototype for and it sounds great, but it has some noise issues. I keep meaning to go back and redesign it (it's mostly the power section) but haven't gotten around to it. I actually thought I had it fixed and sold the prototype, but the buyer said it was noisy and sent it back. I do really like the sound, so if I can get that one running a litle quieter I may throw it on my personal board.
Depends on what flavor you like. Personally I like something a little heavier, so the Black Eye (Soldano) is my favorite. Dr. Wattson also does an excellent job on guitar. What would you recommend for something a little different than the standard Fender for guitar use? Dr. Wattson perhaps?
I'll need to start listening to Gov't Mule more often.Depends on what flavor you like. Personally I like something a little heavier, so the Black Eye (Soldano) is my favorite. Dr. Wattson also does an excellent job on guitar.
And that's why I need to use my computer when I try to answer a bunch of things at once, I tend to forget things on my phone. While I personally haven't tried it, based on the input sensitivity of the power amps I've looked at and on feedback from customers, any of my preamps should be able to drive a power amp.I asked before but didn’t see an answer. Can these drive a power amp all on their own? Looking to run one into a line input on a tube slave amp (power amp only).
A vintage California one at that!Ambassador on Reverb, no affiliation but seems a great price:

I love Matchless amps so I always wanted to try the Hotbox, and it's a lot cooler when it's small and doesn't take its own AC power. I'm trying to remember which one this is. I think there's probably only three Ambassadors in the wild right now (they didn't sell very well so I stopped making them), two in gold and one in black. It's gold so it has to be one of the earlier ones, looks like it may even be the one in that demo video. Anyway, pretty good price if anyone wants a Hotbox III clone.Ambassador on Reverb, no affiliation but seems a great price:

Hmm I think I’d like that, but it says local pickup only.Ambassador on Reverb, no affiliation but seems a great price:

I'm not seeing that. Says $12 shipping.but it says local pickup only.
Thanks! We’ll see how things look in the light of day.I'm guessing its US shipping only, and since you're in Canada, it doesn't show available for shipping.
If you're that interested in it, PM me and we can work out a middleman thing I'm sure![]()
