You should still offer the powder coat but just add a steep upcharge so you have less of them to do

I agree. There was a few finishes there I really wanted to get my finger smudges all over.
After much anticipation, and a slow boat delivery thanks to USPS, it has arrived.

I'll think about it, printing first then coating in clear is so easy that I'll have to figure out a price that makes it worth the extra effort of coating first (including multiple coats for illusion/fracture colors) then printing.Also based on response (which I'm always happy to have, thank you all for voicing your opinions) I think I will continue offering a finish option like I have on my Deep Dish, where it will have the current simple artwork printed in one color (black makes the most sense for visibility) over the raw enclosure then finished in clear. This will give people the option to keep the current simpler artwork but will still allow me to cut down on the amount of time I spend powdercoating each month.
To be perfectly honest, I find the aesthetics of a fully printed top and naked sides to look cheap. Like someone put a full front sticker on an otherwise blank enclosure.
I am going to have to agree here as well. I thought the powdercoat versions look a lot more professional.
That was exactly what my wife said when I showed her the first PA I did in color, she thought it looked like a waterslide decal. I feel like printing all the way over the edges like these helps, but I still see your point.
Which is weird because I suck at powdercoating and felt like at least half of the ones I coated look like garbage
The printing looks great! I'll bet the bare sides will be much less noticeable surrounded by other SB pedals on the board...
To me, this looks way better than the earlier, pictured one. Can you alter the background to look similar to the bare gray metal, instead of the light tan here?
I've got a Slampegg X coming in the March build list. I may opt for the new painted design.

When I print it I set the threshold so it's considered "white" and doesn't print, leaving the bare background. I'll be printing another one in the next little bit, I'll post a picture when it's done.
Me as well, for the Westinghouse or Space Heater. I was actually thinking just totally blank with gold knobs would be super cool (silver on the Space Heater though, so I could tell them apart. lol) and create a "what's that?!" discussion! lol

I was kind of having this conversation with someone else, graphics are tricky because everything is subjective. My day job is electrical engineering, and numbers are objective, they're either wrong or they're right. When the numbers are wrong, you fix them. That's the attitude I try to take with everything, I really want EVERYONE to be happy with everything, and I know it's nearly impossible to make that work sometimes, but I still try.Opinions are like ********. I know my view is biased as the creator, because I know how much learning/time/investment goes into the finishing options, and while the full-color printing the way I'm doing it is the least amount of time for me now, it's the result of years of trying different things and buying and learning new equipment, and I'm really proud of the progress and the results.
I know in pictures they look a lot like waterslide decals, which are the very first thing I started using when I made pedals 7 years ago, but the print looks so much better in person, and I wish I could convey that better in pictures. The colors pop so much better, you can clearly see that there is no edge line marking the end of the decal, it's just a smooth, perfect finish.
I will of course honor the current orders that have powdercoat colors assigned to them, either chosen by you or "stock" colors selected by me for March. Starting in April I will continue to offer the current simple artwork as an option on a raw enclosure with a clear powdercoat for no additional charge. I'm going to think about continuing to offer colored powdecoats with the simple artwork at an additional charge, but if I do I will probably reduce the number of colors available.
Another reason I like printing before powdercoating, the alignment was off when I printed it the first time, but 30 seconds with acetone on a rag and it was clean again. When I mess up artwork on a powdercoated pedal (my current monthly average is 15% mess-ups) I have to sand off the top and re-coat, which takes a lot more time.
But yeah, this color combination is way more readable. I'll get a clearcoat on it and this one will be going out to @Sonicblaze
Indeed, it is.
In my meaningless opinion, powder coated and laser etched was the bee's knees. I think that was a big part of the original draw to SB.
