The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

This one turned out neat, may be of special interest to those that also play 6-string soprano bass (or those that like heavier grit on their bass). JC Emerald is my take on the JCM800 preamp, I did it a year or so ago with 6N21B but it had too many problems so I never really released it. The X version is a huge improvement.

Tell me what I could pee away some money on that would sound better or different (good different) for a baritone Telecaster with hot Fralins. I’m all ears.

Sometimes when I'm stressed I like to ignore my to-do list and selfishly work on things that I think are neat.

It still needs a little work, I think I need to do a better job separating analog and digital signals on the circuit board, there's a little bit of noise, but other than that sounds incredible.

Planning to noodle a little on this thing then go to bed early. I'll get back to April batch tomorrow.

While part of me feels bad you are feeling stressed out the other part of me loves seeing you experiment on fun stuff like this as a result.

It is 100% self-induced stress, usually used as motivation. If I was completely stress-free I'd never get anything done ;)

I haven't recorded any new demos yet, but I'm working on recording a new song idea I've had forever and never got around to developing. Recording debut of my new bass

I have a question for the current owners, are you using it as always on or you sometimes bypass the pedal? Specifically the bass preamps (PA slampegg and similar)
My SlamX is always on; I have it set barely above unity: 1/3 gain then volume to suit. Gives a nice clean tube boost

Speaking of the April batch, how's the SBVT going?
That's an excellent thing I should have brought up earlier. If you ordered an SBVT placeholder for the April batch you should let me know ASAP so I don't accidentally build something else for you. SBVT is not ready for April and needs to be pushed back at least until May.

I think there may be a manufacturing error in the board I have for SBVT, I need to try putting together a new one to start over with the testing.

Quick list. I'm sure I have more at my studio. I really need to clear out some gear :).

4 pack of Nos ef86s Teslas (I look up the year for tomorrow )
2 nos Tesla ef806s.
Tungsol ef80/sg. (Surprisingly very good. It came in my Siegmund I think)
NOS telefunken 806s
3 nos telefunken ef86
Pampered ef86
Haltron ef86. Wow!!!!!!!still has the warranty sticker for the 50s.

So, if I understand, those ef86 tubes are pentodes, and can be used in the Westinghouse. If that is the case, I wouldn't mind upgrading my April order. The question is: Which one? The answer is unfortunately: It doesn't matter, because there is no way my pathetic ears will ever be able to tell the difference. However, I am a gear slut and a never satisfied tone seeker, so even though I'll never be able to tell for real, I will know in my heart that I have a special NOS tube made by a hidden race of secret tone sauce warriors and I will be able to claim superiority over all other bass players and smile knowing that somehow my tone is just more better than all the others.
