I just finished up my super nano board to revolve around my PAX.
Soldered up my Mogami patch cables and added a DI. There are 7 devices on this board and every aspect of it is used to it’s full potential.
Gigged it last week and absolutely loved the PAX into my Rumble 500c. Have a gig tonight and can’t wait to rock it.
Do your run the PAX into the rumble’s input or effects return?
I’ve ran it both ways. Usually through the input though so I can get the DI out on the Rumble, but now I have the Radial so I am not limited.
Both ways sound good, but that PAX can push a power amp very well.
This is good to know, thank you. The Rumble’s DI sounds pretty good so I understand wanting to run your sound out through it. Always good to have options though.
Yes it does. I made this board to bypass everything if I want and to have an IEM option as well. Very versatile and functional.
Its nice to have options.
Alright, I finally got the very last June pedal fixed (there was an internal short on the circuit board, never seen that before), so all orders are officially done. I have two repairs on my bench right now, hoping to have those done this weekend, then I have about a dozen builds that aren't for anyone in particular but which will go to the in-stock shop on the website. Westinghouse, JC Emerald X, LUX, Space Heater, Black Eye X, King Nothing, Echosaurus, Robot Butterfly, and we'll see what else ends up there. Most of them are already done, just need to finish a couple more and I'll list them all probably next week. I'll let everyone know ahead of time when they'll be ready.
Why not just write it around the pedal demo bass line? It’s already in the can.So I'm working on a song idea that's been stuck in my head for months, and I can't for the life of me find a creative bass part that doesn't sound like I'm trying too hard. I may make a contest out of "write my bass part for me"
I actually tried writing a song around that bass line, I couldn't find a guitar part I liked

Wow! Great thread and great line of products, just discovering both. Hard to know where to start! Quick question - sometimes I use my pedals for mandolin gigs as well as bass guitar gigs. Any thoughts on how your pedals react to a piezo (K&K Twin) through a Sarno Black Box into the effects pedalboard? That would be for an effect like the Echosaurus. Or perhaps the K&K Twin direct into the Particle Accelerator before the other pedals (sort of in lieu of the Black Box in that case).

Maybe I'm playing Russian Roulette here, but it seems to be happy with what I'm feeding it. As long as we can say I'm not hurting the pedal by running it a little hotter, then I'll gladly stress-test it further. I totally forget if there's a limit to the capacitors or some other safety issue beyond it shutting down, so maybe I'm being reckless? After all, the Large Hadron Collider could open up a black hole if fed enough juice, according to some tabloiders.

Welcome to Sushi World! So, your Black Box is tailored to piezoelectric pickups, and preamps made for that purpose will always be valuable in getting your signal ready for more effects. I'd keep it onboard. With that said, from what I've experienced (experimenting some with passive acoustic guitar in-body mics, etc), you can achieve good sound going direct into the Particle Accelerator. I'll have to do more to report vagaries in overall tone, but having the Black Box will basically eliminate the variables that could affect your tone; it plus the PA would be a beneficial pairing. And the Echosaurus I don't know specifically about, but figure it's like most pedals in that it would prefer an instrument-level signal.
Confession: I don't know a whole ton about piezos other than, they need a bit of special treatment. They don't always do great going straight into other gear without something helping them along.
Hi Chuck, I don't have a lot of experience with pieze pickups other than in my acoustic guitar (which has an onboard preamp already so potential impedance issues are already more or less sorted), so it looks like @Real Soon 's reply below is good advice.
Glad to hear it worked for you at 12V, that's interesting. I can confirm that at 12V you will not damage the pedal in any way. The input capacitor for the power supply is a 16V capacitor so that should be considered the hard limit for input, but anything up to and including 16V is fair game, but I expect you will find the point at which the regulator gets too hot and shuts down. Again no actual damage here, it's a thermal protection feature and just needs to cool down before it's ready to go again.
