The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

On a different note, I saw that the Sashimi Fuzz had a setback and v2.0 was being designed but probably missed a follow up in the midst of the Fluffy Kitten discussion. Where. is. tube fuzz..??
Oh yeah, I said I would get a demo for that at the same time as Fluffy Kitten. I forgot :p I'll see if I can get to it tonight. I just have a few more builds to finish then a couple to debug, then I should have time for fuzz.

Just chiming in to say that when I bought an Edison, the builder was super, super cool. Great guy. I'm sure finding out that your flagship product has been openly remade and slightly changed, while even mentioning your own product to sell the cloned product, could be upsetting. Has it happened to others in the past? It sure has, but I would feel pretty upset initially as well. Mr. Sushi makes great stuff, but all of this is still true. Also, we're still in a pandemic, and most people, including myself, have reacted in ways during this time that we're not so proud of. I try to cut people some slack as best as I can these days. Nobody's perfect. Both companies have their thing and are both making great things. Support whomever you dig. You dig?

remember that his day gig is designing high voltage prototypes for the aerospace, aircraft and defense industry.
Actually prototyping was my old day job, now I work on production hardware. My work for the last year or so has been on a giant laser that mounts on aircraft to shoot down heat-seeking missiles.

Pedals are pretty easy :P

I dig. I don't agree with the way he's handling it, but he absolutely has a point and I understand where he's coming from. He makes great stuff, and I hope he continues to make great stuff. I have already done everything he has asked of me and ask that my customers do so as well. I don't expect he and I to become best friends, but I hope we can put this all behind us.

Agreed on all accounts.

I just emailed mr nightowl about his casting of aspersions. Rest assured that Senor @Sushi Box FX is a designer that can be trusted, remember that his day gig is designing high voltage prototypes for the aerospace, aircraft and defense industry. I said high voltage 420 V stepped down to 230 like an actual tube amplifier not a piddly 27 volts tripled from 9V. Huge difference.

My suggestion would be to just stay out of it if you haven’t already been dragged into it.

I don’t have either of these. But the suggestion that the Edison is a first of its kind invention is absurd.

On that note I want to take a moment to recognize Sushi Box FX's employee* of the month: @Sonicblaze !

We started talking about a year or so when he offered to fix up my website for me in exchange for a couple pedals, and as you have all likely noticed he did an amazing job. But he went beyond that and has continued improving the website, including walking me through how to do things and adding new features. If he were to charge me the going rate for a web developer for the time he's spent on my website, I'm sure it would be tens of thousands of dollars.

Outside of that he has also acted as a sounding board for ideas, so I think without exception he has known about every single pedal I've made right after I have, and he's made excellent suggestions that everyone has liked (including but not limited to the color scheme on the honeycomb pattern of Slampegg). Super grateful for all the help he has given, and I'm pretty sure I owe him free pedals for life at this point.

*technically not an employee in the traditional sense, but I would not be able to run this company without him at this point

I admire your desire to not offend people - we generally should seek not to offend others. But in reality, if you only do things that won't offend anyone - you're never going to be able to do anything - people get offended by absolutely any and everything. There's probably a cat lover out there offended by your Fluffy Kitten and how it's playing into cat stereotypes or something.
Japanese builder makes pedal called Mom's Apple Pie. The artwork is a pecan pie overlayed on a Confederate flag. Folks point out her missteps so she rethimks the artwork.

Not that hard to imagine is it? Nothing to do with "folks being offended about anything these days " is it?

Random Trivia Fact:

I keep a riff stored in a looper next to my amp for quick testing of pedals so I don't need to grab a bass every time. For the last 6 months or so every single pedal that has gone through the shop was tested with the bass part from "Rain Dancie Maggie" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

cheers @Sonicblaze !! Good work and thank you :)

Who's ready for shipping notices?

After I finish shipping I'll be debugging the 3 King Nothings (I'm assuming it's a design error, so finding that should fix all 3), then once those are shipped my wife informed me that we're going to binge watch Squid Game. So Sashimi Fuzz demo might have to happen tomorrow.

Alright, shipping notices are out for everyone except those that ordered a King Nothing, I'll be digging into that shortly.

This month I have pedals going to:
  • USA
  • Puerto Rico (first time)
  • Canada
  • UK
  • Czech Republic (first time)
  • New Zealand
For October I have my first orders ever from Finland, Germany and Brazil :D
