I hope no one minds, I took a couple hours away from working on September batch last night to work on the Fluffy Kitten demo, I'm hoping to finish it up today and get it posted sometime this weekend. Here's a sneak peek of my settings on bass:

So after a thorough lunch time evaluation of my current dirt set up, I realized that I am indeed part of the 0% and I need this. Priority should perhaps be given to someone that, I dunno, maybe named a knob or something

Nothing super exciting, I was focusing on things I could do as cheaply as possible with a minimum number of hand-soldered components:

Overdrive

• Marshall Bluesbreaker - 0 hand-soldered components
• Trotsky Overdrive - 0 hand-soldered components

Fuzz

• Catalinbread Merkin Fuzz - 0 hand-soldered components

Delay

• Mad Professor Deep Blue - 2 hand-soldered components

I'm not sure if I'll sell these or if I'll make him sell them, but obviously I own the board designs and I source the components.

Fluffy Kitten is only limited run for now, if this batch sells out (it's looking like it probably will) then I'll keep making more until everybody that wants one has one. Not planning to treat it like a special edition. They're not super expensive to make and they take a lot less hands-on labor than tube pedals.

Interesting discussion about the design.

Here's my opinion, for what it's worth. I'm an interactive designer, my wife and many of my friends are graphic designers. Generally, when I design websites, I consider that the functional design should participative and democratic, but the visual design should not. I think Sushi is right to ask TB users what they want in terms of sound, features, specifications, but should decide alone for visual design, because it's mostly a matter of personal taste, you cannot please everybody. At the end of the day, the design of the pedals will be Sushi Box's main visual identity, so he should decide.

Personally I love the visual design of Fluffy Kitten and Sashimi fuzz, because I think a pedal is a very small device, you generally look at it from a certain distance, so it's better to have strong and powerful graphics, like a poster design. But who cares about my opinion?

Now the comment about "cultural appropriation" is another story. I don't have strong opinion regarding this topic, but I agree it's problematic.

I have no idea what cultural appropriation is or why it’s bad. But isn’t the word Sashimi already 100% tied to Japanese culture and why is that ok? For that matter what about “Sushi”?

The artwork is already being redesigned, but the biggest issue isn't the name or the sushi (although sashimi vs nigiri is an issue), moreso the WWII-esque rising sun background and the font that's trying to make western letters look like kanji. I know there are plenty of people that aren't offended and have told me such, but even if only a couple people are offended, it's worth it for me to change it.

With the brief description I saw of the original being a "bright switch", I'd guess that means lo-cut.

I admire your desire to not offend people - we generally should seek not to offend others. But in reality, if you only do things that won't offend anyone - you're never going to be able to do anything - people get offended by absolutely any and everything. There's probably a cat lover out there offended by your Fluffy Kitten and how it's playing into cat stereotypes or something.

Plate voltage on an ef86 is 220 volts, which is not present anywhere in this pedal. They just stole my voltage tripler, and allowed for 12v input, which still maxes it out at 36v, so the description is slanderous to my product."

At first I thought it was awesome, now I don’t know what to think. Is it going to burst into flames, vent toxic gas, induce mental illness?

I just emailed mr nightowl about his casting of aspersions. Rest assured that Senor @Sushi Box FX is a designer that can be trusted, remember that his day gig is designing high voltage prototypes for the aerospace, aircraft and defense industry. I said high voltage 420 V stepped down to 230 like an actual tube amplifier not a piddly 27 volts tripled from 9V. Huge difference.
