I almost want to create a fake reverb ad at a crazy price. Almost..
It would be a stretch, if possible at all. He's desperate, the model in question doesn't even exist anymore so he can't legitimately go after him, so he attempts to stop what's left. All I know is the WH sells faster than the Owls these days in the classifieds, that has to translate to new sales as well. Not the brightest move for sure, people that didn't know about the westinghouse sure will now, and not because of Nathan lol. Nathan has done everything correct, since the issue has come up at least (you won't see many builders, of anything for that matter, offer a 100% credit for returning a product, just to save face) -

The "imitation" that functions better, is in a useful size box. If he had grounds for a lawsuit, there would be only 1 brand of compressor, distortion, eq, direct box, etc. Plus, if this is merely a substandard imitation, what is he worried about?

The timing of all this is impeccable. I was about to create a F/S thread. Kind of inclined to do it anyway now tbh.
I can't see much of an excuse for the way Night Owl handled this incident and apparently other similar ones but there is something easy to understand here about why it happened . The "Edison " put him on the map and he is not a prolific builder of pedal types at all - unlike the Senor who creates new and varied models with amazing frequency . He's trying to protect his baby and in essence his retail space . Nathan had the grace to handle this whole incident exceedingly well by ending production of his version and also offering to buy them back from customers . I believe we all here have a pretty fair assessment of the way Nathan does his business and a simple note early on from Night Owl could have defused this properly . Maybe he wasn't aware of the Westinghouse until recently but that's about the best excuse I can come up with for how Night Owl handled this .
One can only hope that this is a one off event and not a harbinger of issues to come for all concerned .... Kelly

I think you should do your ad . I can't see any reason to be worried beyond Night Owl Industries perhaps black listing you from buying their stuff if he really is unhinged about all this . Hopefully he'll calm down and do himself a favor by backing off the silly threats - spend more time developing different pedals and patenting them if he's so concerned about other folks variations .... I haven't heard him come into TB with these "attacks", just the other place. He can't touch anyone, but if you have future plans with Nathan take him up on his offer credit offer, I'm sure he can recycle a bit.

So apparently something has been weird with the website's messaging system, I haven't been getting emails when messages are sent through the website, @Sonicblaze and I are looking into it. Apparently he sent two messages, 20 minutes apart, which I will not share here due to language, but he asked that I stop using his brand and pedal name on my website, which I already did yesterday. He has a valid point, but I definitely don't like the way he's going about it.

according to Tennessee Electric they're "a signature pickup that we had wound for us using A5 magnets and wound to be fairly hot." I really dig the sound.That was the plan, there's a handful of components in each tube pedal (not to mention the tube itself) that can be recycled, the enclosures I could either sand down and house Space Heaters in or use to make some industrial modern art.
Oh, or I could design a new pedal with the same form factor as WH and swap guts in, that could be kind of neat.
Can you just replace the bad words with "fluffy" & "kitten"?

It's Christmas! Got a couple boards in that I've been waiting for, probably not super interesting to anyone here though. Big one on top is going to be my tube driven spring reverb, the two smaller black ones are a turret version of Black Eye, which I'll probably only build one of (for myself of course) because it will be prohibitively expensive.
The two green ones are kind of an experiment. I mentioned a while ago that I was going to have a local guy work for me doing some assembly work, but his quality of work wasn't up to par so I had to fire him. He's a really nice guy with a good work ethic, he just jeeds more practice, but I can't have him using my customer builds as practice. So I designed a few simple solid-state designs (two overdrives, a fuzz and a delay) for him to practice on so he can get experience working on stuff similar to what I would have him doing.

I already had an Edison. Sounded good, looked good but I didn’t like the form factor on my board. I’m a bit ocd and will gravitate to symmetrical shapes with top jacks and knobs on the top face.
Still tempted.
