Well based on feedback received here and elsewhere, I'm going to be talking to my artist to re-do the artwork for Sashimi Fuzz. It has never been and will never be my intention to alienate or offend. When I ask for opinions I take them seriously, and I will continue to do so. I see too much of the "take your opinion and shove it" attitude elsewhere in the world these days, and I don't want to be part of it.

So thank you all for continually helping me to be better. Stay tuned for updates.

FWIW - it's a good decision to try again on that one . Your artist strikes me as more of a "poster maker " rather than a ' fine art ' artist . They also do not to my mind - have a good sense of color balancing but heh - that's just me ! I do think you have undersold your own art work choices that precede this new design stage as they had many outstanding design choices - good color scheming and made interesting graphic statements . But what it sound like tho?
Well yes, there is that too :P I still need to get a demo for Fluffy Kitten, I'll try to get Sashimi at the same time. I'm in the finishing stages of the September batch, I'll shoot for demos when September is done.

Unrelated note, Smoke Signal is now available for ordering, limited to 6 builds for the month of October.

I'm still thinking about that and trying to decide what I want to do. I asked for opinions on TGP as well, and several people jumped on the website to see my other pedals (I'm less well-known over there) and noted that Sashimi is wildly different than my usual style, which a couple people described as "dark psychedelic". So I'm trying to decide if I want to go back to my artist and ask for something different, or if I want to stick with dark psychedelic and do something myself. The artist is talented and easy to work with so I at the very least want to keep him around for limited run things like Fluffy Kitten, but maybe for everything else I should just stick to doing it myself. Usually when I do the artwork myself I go for "pictures of nothing in particular that have colors that feel right" and that seems to work well enough.

Interesting discussion about the design.

Here's my opinion, for what it's worth. I'm an interactive designer, my wife and many of my friends are graphic designers. Generally, when I design websites, I consider that the functional design should participative and democratic, but the visual design should not. I think Sushi is right to ask TB users what they want in terms of sound, features, specifications, but should decide alone for visual design, because it's mostly a matter of personal taste, you cannot please everybody. At the end of the day, the design of the pedals will be Sushi Box's main visual identity, so he should decide.

Personally I love the visual design of Fluffy Kitten and Sashimi fuzz, because I think a pedal is a very small device, you generally look at it from a certain distance, so it's better to have strong and powerful graphics, like a poster design. But who cares about my opinion?

Now the comment about "cultural appropriation" is another story. I don't have strong opinion regarding this topic, but I agree it's problematic.

Sashimi Fuzz also needs a big dollop of Wasabi and Pickled Ginger.

At the end of the day, you do you.

I was literally in the middle of a meeting and I was like, I'll be right back, I need to order a preamp. One of the guys that works for me is a guitar player and another a keyboard player. They get it.

And I'm getting this :) thanks!!

I'm going to need a bigger board because I ordered one too.

I am really going to have to sell some stuff soon. And order some red and blue knobs.

I was at work when these opened up, and I was keeping an eye out for this and so was one of my employees. We both saw it on different computers and we started walking towards each other from across the room (and pointing at each other like we had something important to say), and my friend said first "There's only 3 left, and I'm ordering one right now". My reply was was "I already have one on order..."

Do you ever play that game with yourself? “I want it, I need it, I don’t want it, I don’t need it, I do, I don’t, I do, I don’t. Oh hell, if there is still one available at (pick some arbitrary time), then I’ll bite, if not, so it goes.”

I just won the latest round with the last October Smoke Signal. I’m happy/not happy about this. But I’ll be all right.
