This is the kind of thing that happens when you don't write an owners manual. Yes some of us nerds and geeks actually do read them. Admittedly I used to have a hand in writing some and was also in sales for a long time and kinda thrive on such minutia.

Unfortunately Verellen didn't write a manual for the Meatsmoke pre so I'm starting from scratch on it. I like manuals too, and that's one thing I want to get better about, but hasn't happened yet.

Maybe management needs to Webex with the technical writers in the marketing department.

Yup, I drafted a memo for management to review before sending off to the technical writing staff, they'll collaborate with engineering and marketing staff to get something together. Our office has synergy like crazy.

First stage of the filter is HPF, cutoff of 154Hz if my math is right. That's as far as I got before getting pulled into meetings and stuff. I'll double check that number and figure out the other filter as well later.

I'm barred permanent from living in New Orleans, high school misadventures during Mardi Gras '76. One of my compatriots has written a novella / screenplay but has sworn off publishing until all our parents can't find out, they still might kill us.

There is another about a bachelor party gone awry through Cen-Tex, East Texas, Galveston and Houston in a "borrowed" school bus.
Statutes of Limitations may have run out, but parents linger.

I would be happy to assist or contribute to the manuals.

That speaker SIM circuit might be a nice option or consideration for future pedals, especially the planned DI if it can be isolated and pulled out. If not we know a clever designer.

And to be fair for such a simple pedal it does sound excellent. If I didn't have so many damn tube circuits, I would probably use one of these. Needless to say Black Eye beats the hell out of this thing, no question about it.

But does it work with bass?

A solid question, I actually haven't tried yet. I have @Nuage420's amp on top of my 610 cab right now and it sounds EXCELLENT, so I would love to try this out through there, but alas my kids are all in bed. Maybe tomorrow after work if I remember.

I have been meaning to try a Bluesbreaker...

Weirdly I had never tried one before. Similar enough to a tubescreamer to go in the same category, but I like Bluesbreaker a lot better.

Yup, with the gain completely off and the master cranked it does a nice low-mid gain thing. Soldano marketed it as a distortion, and they're not wrong, but it has some nice range in the low-medium gain area as well.

I just listened to the clips on your site. Would you agree that the Black Eye is capable of higher gain than the King Nothing?
