Quick January update (because I've been forgetting to do them)
All enclosures have been finished, all boards have been assembled, the tube socket boards will be finished tonight then on to final assembly. Once I get to final assembly I can bring in my wife as an extra set of hands so it moves a bit faster and I'm optimistically planning to get things finished up this week and get things shipped by the weekend.

I love the boss stuff, my GT1000CORE is freaking amazing... but... I need to pay someone to go through the head ache of setting up my presets and midi lol. I just want to tell someone what I want and pay them for the task.
Oooooohhhhhh yeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhh. My wife is enjoying it considerably less, especially with the new amp.
So above my amp I have three floating shelves where I store/display my pedals that aren't on my board. It turns out I need different shelves with a lip on the edges, as the 6x10 cabinet is perfectly capable of rattling ALL THE PEDALS off the shelves. It was like lemmings, one after the other plunging to their death. They were jumping onto plush carpet so none of them died and they are all fine, but I had about a dozen attempt suicide over the weekend.
But yes, I am absolutely enjoying the new bass and the new amp.
I probably would have kept my Helix LT if this service was available!
Our front room is an office, guest room, and the music room - front part has a desk and pull out couch, back area has my amps. My wife put up a bunch of floating shelves. These shelves had a bunch of nick nacks and whatnot on them.
Had. Funko Pop Nick nacks apparently love to jump around when bass frequencies are present.
I was all set to order the regular UA, but after reading “Mr. Sushi’s” replies, I am now very tempted to wait for the HWUA. Since I am not the bassist equivalent of Eric Johnson, I wonder if I would spot the difference? Or, more accurately, would my wife? (Quote: all of those expensive little boxes have lights and knobs, why do you need more than a couple?”)
I mean I'll admit I don't have the most discerning ears and I hear a difference, but my non-musician wife does not hear a difference. It's definitely not a "this one sounds good and this one sounds bad" thing, I pretentiously think I don't sell anything that sounds bad, but I like the sound of the handwired versions better.
I have a lead on what's wrong with the handwired Black Eye and Space Heater, but I hope I'm wrong. More on that later.
Coming from someone who listens very intently to the details between pedals/basses,
There is an obvious difference in tone between the SMD SH, and HWSH.
Not busting through the wall, kool-aid man obvious, but it is there.
Enough to make me favor one, but not enough to where I dislike the other. They both sound good and offer different flavors of awesome.
As with many of these things the difference or benefit will be one of degrees or shades that will be subtle until you experience the difference. Like discerning a new color, smell or taste - hearing the difference will be minor. It also depends on your criteria, in a live setting there is little chance you would notice, but in a critical environment like a studio you are more likely.
I have a UA that imho is the perfect bass preamp for me, for that reason and because I cause multiple setups I plan to add a HWUA to use as a recording option my original will stay in play on my gigging board.
My three year old decided she's going to assemble tube sockets for January. So I guess that's happening.
This really isn't that hard... or shouldn't be ... all bets are off with anything Roland. Are you using an external midi controller ? Soleman? MorningStar? DMC ? I personally use a MorningStar with my HX Stomp and Future Impact. It is stupid simple once you have your head wrapped around a couple of basic concepts.
1. midi is (or can be) a Daisey chain, Each device on the chain can have a unique address or channel number. My Future impact is set to Channel 2, My HX is set to channel 3, My controller is on channel 1.
2. for the most part midi messages either Command Control (CC) or Program Control (PC) messages. A message is generally made up of
- A channel number ( what device is going to react)
- A PC or CC designation (what kind of message am I')
- A value that triggers a function
- and often a second value that does something with the funtion
3. Each midi device will have number of features that are enabled for midi control. In the case of the HX, Global settings are not enables so ... no external control of global settings... Each device will have a 'midi map' that defines what functions are available for control and what type of message you need to send and what values you needs to send and that is your bible...
Source audio is particularly good at the midi map thing.
There are way better midi guys than me on this site ... send up a flare. Somebody will help get you going...

When switching patches using Program Change messages transmitted by an external MIDI device, you can freely set the correspondence between Program Change messages received by the GT-1000CORE and the patches to be switched to in the “Program Change Map.”
This sets the patch number (U001–U250, P001–P250) for the corresponding Program Change number.
Basically you create a patch on the GT1000 Core and save it in a 'slot', 1 through 250. From your external controller, send a PC message on the channel you assigned to the Core with a VALUE OF 1 to 250 that corresponds with the 'slot' for your patch.
Only took 3 manuals to get there...

So this is fun. I stand by what I make regardless of when I made it, so I will fix anything that isn't working. Well someone reached out to me, they bought this used and it's having some problems. I think I built a total of two of these, probably sold them for around $120 (I think less for this one due to damaged box), and the last one was probably 2018 or so. It's a digutal emulated spring reverb with a 6N16B miniature tube driving it for tube warmth. Neat little box, complete with laser engraving over spraypaint finish.
